It looks as if we're in for a very cosy autumn/winter this year. Layering and soft, comfortable fabrics are everywhere. And so are Shackets (that's a combination of a shirt and jacket if you didn't already know).

This year they've moved on to thicker fabrics including shearling and wool. We're also seeing longer lengths and extra details such as fringing.

The key to finding your best fit is to understand your body shape.

Someone who is straight up and down without a waist will love the cut of a traditional shacket. A curvy figure however will benefit from some waist definition so a belted version in a soft fabric would be better.

Anyone who carries weight on their top half won't want to over-layer so avoid really bulky knits underneath. Instead, opt for thiner fabrics.

Petites will no doubt avoid the longer lengths and it may be pertinent to shop in dedicated petite sections as the proportions will be better.

And finally, choose a shacket in a colour that is flattering on you because it's likely to be the main focus of your outfit.
