Many people in the UK will have grown up like I did... watching World’s Strongest Man in that quiet lull between Christmas and New Year.

With the Stoltman Brothers dominating the podium and flying the flag for Scotland and Great Britain, and Eddie Hall melting the deadlift record by smashing through the historic 500kg barrier, strength sports have never felt more mainstream.

Last year, I started my own strength journey.

I lift a lot less than those guys (definitely not in the 1000lb club… yet), but the progress over 12 months has been massive.

So you can imagine my surprise when a website enquiry landed from a company looking to build the “Strava of powerlifting” uniting UK gyms into a centralised league table for both personal bests and regulated competition lifts.

It’s a genuinely interesting platform and one of two ambitious projects we’ve kicked off this year in the health and fitness space.

It got me thinking:
Would a non–fitness-obsessed version of me have crossed paths with these clients?

Maybe.

But it feels like too small a world for that to be pure coincidence.

Most websites don’t fail because of bad design.

They fail because no one asked the right questions early enough.
Before a single wireframe is drawn, most teams skip the hard work:

• Who is this actually for?
• What decision do we want someone to make?
• What problem are we solving first?
• How does this site support the wider system (sales, ops, delivery)?

Instead, the conversation jumps straight to:

Building online courses?

We’ve always backed LearnDash, TutorLMS, and Moodle. Rock solid. Proven. Still our go-to for most projects.

But here’s the thing: more and more of our coaching clients were already living in Go High Level.

A picture paints 1000 words, but a diagram can convey much more

In business, highly complex frameworks and methodologies can often feel overwhelming. Have you ever tried to explain everything you do in a business meeting?

Had a great conversation earlier today with a scottish coaching client. Off the back of him reading my Off Canvas post earlier today he mentioned we should do a post about how you wouldn't sort your own car. Why put your website security into a DIY situation? It's a good point, so here is my go at a post like that.

You wouldn't fix your own car.

Well maybe if you were a mechy.

I certainly wouldn't!

Sometimes it is good to put work into the hands of an expert.

That way you can crack on with what you are doing.

I do this with a lot of stuff beyond my comfort level.

Gas, Leccy, Cars, while I know I could maybe YouTube the odd thing.

There's no substitute for experienced people guiding the way
