Take it from Centre Parcs 😬
After deleting their X account, Centre Parcs left their official handle up for grabs, which was taken up by another private individual.
After a few weeks of genuine messages from customers, the new owner decided to (thankfully!) flag it with Centre Parcs rather than reply to queries. This could have been disastrous for the company, as customers could have handed over sensitive financial information if the account had fallen into the wrong hands.
Whilst significant numbers of companies are reducing their X content, we don’t recommend completely deleting your account. Instead, brands should post one final time to signpost to your active channels and keep the account dormant.
