Our MD had the pleasure of spending Saturday morning getting into the mind of award winning MD Roel Mojico. Roel is 25 years old and has been in the sales game for 5 years. Previously, he was toying with the idea of going to university, but felt a strong desire to get into sales. And what a great choice that has been for him.

This year his company was on pace to turnover Ā£1,000,000… some feat for someone that is only 25. During this down period, we thought it would be a great opportunity to get into the minds of some business owners. Here’s what Roel has learnt from his time in sales and business…

1. Comfort zones

With no previous experience in sales. When asked what his biggest struggle was he said it was ā€œmyself and my ability to get out of my comfort zoneā€. When asked what advice would he give to someone that is struggling to break that comfort zone, he replied ā€œjust look at what you will get out of it. If it's worth it, go for it if not don’t bother. Also, don’t be afraid to mess up, it’s part of learningā€

2. Stickability

Roel humbly admitted that he wasn’t the most talented when he started in sales. But what he lacked in skill he made up for in work ethic and determination. When I asked him ā€œwhat are the most common traits in people you train that become successfulā€ he answered plain and simply ā€œStickability!ā€ Someone’s ability to push through obstacles and not give up when the going gets tough is critical when it comes to success, not just in sales and business, but in every aspect of your life. ā€œif the win is big enough, don’t give upā€

3. Learn from others

This is something we hear a lot… learn from people that are getting the results you desire. Roel has attributed a lot of his success from modelling successful people.

4. Ride the waves

Understand that there are going to be ups and downs. Roel said ā€œdon’t let your emotions get the best of you and try not to view a negative situation as permanentā€ ā€œwhat’s important during up and downtimes is that you remain consistent and your actions stay true to your goals, that way you can guarantee long term successā€. *** Full video interview to come!
