still boys - intentionally styled in lowercase - is a community photography project by visual artist Edward Brilliant (yes that’s my real name). It documents the lives of British schoolboys, from the sports they play and how they spend their free time to the fresh piercings they might be hiding from their parents.

Edward printed it as a tabloid newspaper, so he could give the students and school staff free copies to keep as a record of the year. The spreads can be pulled apart, allowing the boys featured to curate the work themselves and pin the posters up on their walls.

still boys is an ongoing project diving into “what it means to grow up as a young man in England today.” If you’d like to get involved, do get in touch with Edward!

A look inside the second issue of The Printing Press, our annual newspaper! This one is all about NYC* with contributions from Helen Christgau Levi, Sunday Club ®, Jonah Rosenberg, Books Are Magic, Susanna Hayward and Laura Feinstein.🗽

We had so much fun working with our longtime collaborators on the design – coming up with Classifieds and getting our mascot, Russell, in an “I 📰 NY” t-shirt. We left some copies around NYC the other week — did you manage to get your hands on one? :eyes:

For the past 15 years, Jaywick, a coastal village in Essex, has repeatedly been named the most deprived place in England. But that wasn’t what photographer David J Shaw found when he started working there in 2024. “A DIY village spirit exists where neighbours care for one another and people organise support events such as free meals, karaoke parties, dances, art and music events or tabletop markets,” writes David.

This summer, working with Shannon Ghannam of the Peter Marlow Foundation, he set up the Jaywick Youth Visual Storytelling Programme to challenge the negative narrative around the area and give local young people a chance to share “a more personal and kinder view” of their village.

The project culminated in a 40-page newspaper designed by Tom Hornby, featuring work from millicent_glasgow BLOOM Sandra Crawford and Kian Mills. Copies were distributed to local shops and the participants celebrated with a launch party at the Never Say Die pub. “We were thrilled!” says Shannon. “We received such positive feedback from the community and people were proud of what we all achieved.”

SATISFY heads to the desert for the latest issue of Possessed 🏜️🏃‍♂️ It’s like a zine at broadsheet scale, and an extension of Satisfy’s rebellious, counter-culture take on running.

No training plans in sight, but there is Pierre David’s photo essay on the 250-mile Cocodona ultramarathon (the winner, Rachel Entrekin, slept 19 minutes over 2 days), a running playlist from QOTSA’s Josh Homme, interviews with runners Molly Seidel and Jamil Coury and more fun stuff. We 📰 NYC! What a week in a city full of people doing really, really exciting things with print. It was amazing to get a close-up view of what’s happening at both ends of the spectrum – from local, independent and community-led print to some of the biggest names in publishing. Swipe for a wee recap of what we got up to!

We took over the weird and wonderful Old News Newsstand for an afternoon and gave out free copies of our newspaper, The Printing Press (Thanks for letting us squeeze in there with you Sylvea!)

Magazine heaven at CASA MAGAZINES NYC ☁️

… and we left some copies of The Printing Press there in very good company!

Art director gave us a tour of the New York Magazine office and let us poke around the archive…

…featuring decades of print issues, immaculately organised, with a photo of each cover on the files.

Ceramicist Helen Christgau Levi visited our printing press in the UK last month, so we stopped by her gorgeous studio to see where the newspapers ended up!

Still can’t believe we got to look around The New York Times HQ (and on the paper’s 175th anniversary, no less) Thank you to our extraordinary tour guide Larry Buchanan!

Did you know there’s a Museum at The Times on the 15th floor of the office? In this display was the guestbook Martin Luther King Jr. signed when we visited in 1965.

Sunday Club ® opened up just for us on a Friday!

We couldn’t miss a visit to Printed Matter, Inc., and we dropped off copies of our newspaper in the freebies section (where you can also pick up the beautiful poster for !)

We threw a party at Secret Riso Club to celebrate the launch of The Printing Press! came dressed for the occasion 🗞️

Here’s the delightful Gail Anderson with The Printing Press right after our talk at School of Visual Arts. We loved meeting students and teachers at Pratt Institute and design, too.
