Duppy Projects is a newspaper in negative: pages saturated in black ink, with text printed in white.

The limited-edition publication from Joseph takes its title from the Jamaican Patois term for a ghost and explores – through photography and conversations with Alvaro Barrington, Jawara Alleyne, DeVonn Charles Francis and others – how Jamaica’s past has shaped artistic practices across the Black diaspora.

“In a country that has such a complex history as Jamaica, but so little of it recorded, it feels really important to create something tangible,” says Joseph, who was inspired by the archives of newspapers and journals such as Savacou, Hot Spice and the West Indian Gazette. “I wanted the fragility of the newsprint to reflect the fragility of preservation in that region.”

He worked with graphic designer bryce to bring a “gothic sensibility” to the newspaper and wax-pencil illustrations by Violet Hoppe (Violet Hoppe) materialise like apparitions across the pages.

📰 Printed on our midi newspapers on 55gsm improved newsprint. Duppy is available now at duppyprojects.com and at the following stockists:

Jamaica: National Gallery of Jamaica
London: Black Cultural Archives
Lagos: ALÁRA
Paris: 1909
Melbourne: Fiend

What do a businessman, a flasher and a commuter have in common? They all meet at a bus stop in WILLIAM PALMER’s latest campaign, which is printed on our broadsheets. 🚌 🚏The newspaper, Brief Exposure, was part of the look for the label’s presentation at Pitti Uomo in Florence. USELESS is a “big, impractical, heavily pixelated newsprint magazine.” We’ve printed five issues of the irreverent fashion publication since creative director .oxleyand launched it in 2023. Since then it’s been included in magCulture’s pop-up at Selfridge’s this spring and was shortlisted for a award, too. Not so useless after all!

“A newspaper turned my newsletter from something I send into something I get to give.”

After years of sharing her work by email, Sheilby turned her newsletter into a newspaper for a change! We’d happily look at Sheilby’s photographs anywhere, but they do feel especially at home in print. This portfolio brings together recent projects, including a sneak peek at Sheilby + Simrah, the photobook and exhibition she’s creating with friend and fellow photographer simrah farrukh. (The website is live now at holdmetender.world!)
