Wow, just been working on SEO for a Javascript web application. It is incredible that so many web apps have so much potential but they aren't getting SEO because it often isn't a consideration for developers.

We are going to see more and more javascript on websites, and it can have a major negative impact on your Search rankings (and online revenue) if not handled correctly.

Google has some great videos explaining how their crawler works - i.e. it crawls then the page is rendered separately. Because Javascript can take time to load and the Googlebot won't wait longer than 5 seconds to crawl the page this can cause MAJOR ISSUES.

These can often be fixed by providing Google with a prerendered version of your content.

Google’s Mobile friendly test uses the same web rendering service, shows you the rendered DOM and the errors that Google encountered while rendering your page... Muller says this is more critical than the Googlebot, but websites should be compatible with Chrome 41

Google updates the algo: "There’s no “fix” for pages that may perform less well... other than to remain focused on building great content."

So that's good news if your company is writing great content people actually want to read... not so great if you are like most companies publishing blogs that take days to write and get less than 10 views because they are boring and not useful!

For example

1. Advertise your Removals company's video to everyone interested in moving home on Youtube - say 10,000 views out of 100,000 impressions
