Melony’s route to becoming Commercial Director at Studio One wasn’t exactly a straight line…

Her degree? History of European Art & Architecture.

Then came an accountancy qualification, with the idea that one day she might find her way back into the arts. There was just a small 30-year gap in between!

Today, Melony is very much the go-to person at Studio One and a pretty crucial part of keeping everything, and everyone — running smoothly.

Finance, HR, insurance, IT, team away days, setting up computers… if it isn’t engineering, there’s a good chance it lands with Melony.

But perhaps the most important part of her role? The people. Making sure the team is happy, supported and has everything they need.

And that original plan to get back into the arts? She got there eventually, with her work at the museum alongside Studio One.

A varied career, an even more varied role — and the person helping keep Studio One ticking behind the scenes.

Jason’s love of construction started a little earlier than most…

At 11, he built his first “house”... admittedly, more of a glorified den.

Then came his GCSE project: a two-storey brick house in the garden. A slightly more ambitious upgrade!

But behind it all is something that’s stuck with Jason throughout his career:

When something is built well, it supports the way you live, work and enjoy a space - without you really having to think about it. It simply melts into the background and does what it’s meant to do.

A philosophy that’s still very much part of how Jason approaches his work at Studio One today.

Project Spotlight: Fleetwood Market Hall

A landmark restoration with sustainability at its core. 🌿

Studio One was proud to provide full Structural Engineering services for the decarbonisation works at Fleetwood Market Hall, working alongside the wider consultant team for Wyre Council.

The project involved detailed analysis and strengthening of the historic wrought iron roof trusses to accommodate a new double-glazed lantern and insulated roof system, preserving the character of this iconic structure while improving its energy performance.

Our scope also included structural investigations, specialist surveys, design advice, site inspections, and ongoing support throughout construction. Additional works across the Market Hall, Annexe, and Birdcage buildings included new glazed entrances, stone repairs, re-roofing works, and the installation of extensive solar PV panels.
