❤️ Yuki ❤️
Because our dogs aren't just performers. They're our teammates, our partners, and much-loved pets. 🐾
25 weeks ago, I couldn't run.
I'd never been a runner. In fact, until April, I'd never even run properly at all.
I'd dabbled in a bit of caniwalking and bikejoring, but running 5k? That seemed like a very long way away.
Fast forward 25 weeks and this weekend, lil Yuki and I travelled away for our first competitive weekend together in a sport that's still very new to us.
We followed the New to Running plan with runna , running 2–3 times a week and slowly, painfully 😂, building something I never thought I'd be able to do. And somehow, despite the summer we've had, we kept going.
Yuki and Addi have absolutely loved being in harness, and somewhere along the way, I discovered that I actually love it too. ❤️
I entered Tri Dog with one very simple goal:
Just finish.
That was it. No expectations. No ambitions of times or placings. Just get around the course, keep Yuki pointing in the right direction, and cross that finish line.
And we did.
Not only did we complete it, but alongside our friends Palamountains UK , we came back on Sunday and knocked more than TWO MINUTES off our Saturday time. 🤯🙌
For someone who couldn't run 5k a few months ago, that's something I'm ridiculously proud of.
I don't usually do boast posts, but this one feels deserved. 😂
Because this isn't just about one weekend. It's about 25 weeks of turning up, learning something completely new, pushing through the days when it was hard, and actually seeing a goal through to the end.
And standing at that finish line with my little Yuki beside me, I couldn't have been prouder of either of us. ❤️
We actually bloody did it. 🐾🏃♀️
And I think this might just be the beginning…
Massive thanks to everyone who believed in us- especially Team Severn Sport Dogs for the encouragement and fuelling my athletes with Reggies raw, PalaMountains and sheep fat 💪 and Better Dog for keeping my doggos hydrated... and of course, my little team mates, Yuki the Goldie for going the extra mile, and her team mate (only one dog allowed for Tridog), Addict the Ivormyth Miniature American Shepherds and Border Collies. MAS.
