In my work helping leaders develop a Future-Ready Mindset, I often talk about the difference between being reactive and being ReadyAlready.
Procrastination is the ultimate "Future-Blocker." When we delay future-relevant decisions, we aren't just "relaxing"—we are actively narrowing our future options and limiting our potential. A Future-Ready Mindset requires us to:
- Anticipate shifts before they become emergencies, one at a time
- Act with intentionality rather than waiting for "the right time" (which never arrives).
- Adapt in real-time so we aren't left picketing the past.
It's funny that The Procrastinators' Club gave out an "Award to Come Later." In the modern economy, tomorrow may even be too late.
As we head into 2026, are you waiting for the future to happen to you, or are you building the mindset to meet it head-on?
