We decided to remodel the lounge, where our house church meets, to make room for more seats, and to make it look bigger - it had 2 enormous DFS "Guv'nor" brown leather reclining sofas taking up most of the room.

I first saw Salvador Dali's lip sofa at the Dali museum in Montmartre, Paris, back before kids (BK), and instantly fell in love. Sarah found one secondhand in outer London for £100 - I duly jumped into Tank (our faithful 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander, still only just over 60K miles - the lynchpin of our 8 year renovation) and it just fitted in with the legs off. Marie Kondo would be proud - this brings me joy every time I walk into the room. The little cushions make good prayer mats too if you want to kneel or just sit on the floor!

This was originally going to be a travelogue page, but it never got going because we were too busy travelling. Now we're busy on a new project and we're repurposing this page to follow that story. All will be revealed...soon.

This is a photo of us “on top of the world” at 1800m in Madeira, at the Optical Observatory in Pico do Areeiro, which is part of the European programme that monitors space junk. Now you know! There are some great walks into that landscape that we’ll try next time we go back.
