Did you know that for decades, women were significantly underrepresented in clinical research?
This meant that treatments, dosing and safety profiles were often based primarily on data from male participants.
Today we want to give a special thank you to the women who participate in clinical trials. Their time, commitment and willingness to contribute to research play a vital role in advancing medicine and improving healthcare for future generations.
As medicine has evolved, the importance of inclusive research has become clear: healthcare works best when studies reflect the real populations they serve.
Thanks to policy changes and growing awareness, women are now recognised as an essential part of clinical research. Their participation has helped advance understanding in areas such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, reproductive health, autoimmune conditions and more — conditions that affect women differently or disproportionately.
While progress has been made, there is still important work to do. Ensuring participation across age groups, ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic groups and health experiences helps research better reflect the real world and improves healthcare outcomes for everyone.
At Absolutely Health, we remain committed to supporting inclusive clinical research and meaningful patient engagement, helping ensure that trials reach the communities they are designed to serve.
Happy International Women’s Day.
