The 8:30 that never turns up.

Slot held, technician stood about, part sat on the shelf, and a phone that never rings.

Nobody writes that cost down anywhere, which is exactly why it keeps happening.

RampUp can take a deposit, or the full amount, at the point of booking. Stripe handles it, Apple Pay and Google Pay included.

People who've put money down turn up. And the ones who were never going to turn up quietly drop out at the payment screen, which is worth just as much.

£52+VAT a month for RampUp, with Stripe a £32+VAT add-on on top. Zero commission on either, so the customer pays you directly and you keep the lot.

Every dentist in the country asks for a deposit and nobody thinks twice about it.

What does a no-show actually cost you on a Saturday morning? 🤔

Almost every review of a garage website is written in the first fortnight.

That's the honeymoon. Site's new, you're checking the visitor numbers daily, and the first job that comes off the back of it feels like proof.

Nobody writes a review in month eleven.

Jamaine Mckenzie at MC Autos did: "We have been using Garage Services Online now for about a year, we have seen a massive increase in customers contacting us via our website."

A year in is the only timescale that tells you anything.

Week one measures novelty. Month twelve tells you whether it's still working once the launch buzz has worn off and nobody's watching it any more.

Worth asking about your own. When did yours last bring you somebody who'd never heard of you? 🤔

When did a marketing email last give you homework instead of an offer?

Once a month we send independent garages one subject, worked through properly. Most issues end with a short list of things to go and check yourself, on your own phone.

Recent ones:

• Search your own town and your main service the way a stranger would, and follow the path they follow.
• Open the two garages nearest you next to your own.
• Fill in your own contact form and see if the email actually lands.

Twenty minutes, give or take. What you find is your business.

Free, and you can unsubscribe any time. 👈🔗

Which job would you happily never see on your ramps again? 🤔

Every workshop has one:

• The marque that eats a whole day and returns almost nothing.
• The car nobody wants to be under.
• The EV you're not qualified for yet.

A generic booking form will cheerfully drop all of it in your diary at three in the morning, because it has no idea what it's looking at.

RampUp lets you block it before it gets in. French cars, EVs, hybrids, or whatever your own list is.

The slot never appears, so there's no awkward phone call the next morning.

Lawson Thursfield at BTS Garage in the West Midlands has made the same point publicly: being selective about the work you attract took pressure off the workshop and improved staff wellbeing.

Go on then. What's on your list?

How many people a week ask you for a price over the phone, and how many of those actually turn into a booking? 🤔

The awkward part is that the honest answer always depends on the vehicle. So the website says "call for a quote", and plenty of people never do.

True Carfix Garage in Bedford: "Our customers can now book online easily and even check prices by entering their registration, which has made a massive difference to our business."

Reg in, price out. Their car, not a range.

And in their own words: "we're already seeing more customers coming in day by day."

Nobody rings round three garages for a quote any more. They book with whoever showed them one.

Quick one, and it isn't a sales post.

Once a month we send out a newsletter for independent garages. One subject per issue, with the sources shown so you can check them yourself.

Recent ones:

• The comparison a customer runs on three garages before any of them hear a word from them.
• The five ways a garage quietly leaks enquiries.
• Who is really beating you on page one, because it is rarely the independent down the road.

No offers section. No "ten tips to grow your garage".

Free, and you can unsubscribe any time you like. 👈🔗

How many jobs has your website brought you this week?

Paul O'Hanlon at POH Auto Services can answer that one precisely.

"The first week we secured 10 jobs directly related to the new website, most importantly creating sales from inquiries."

Ten, in seven days. Not enquiries that went nowhere. Work on the ramps.

Most garage owners genuinely cannot answer the question, because nothing on the site was ever built to be counted in the first place.

If you can't put a number on what your website did for you last week, that is the thing worth fixing before anything else.

Give us a call or WhatsApp us on 01423 855902.

Of everyone you booked in this month, how many had never used you before? 🤔

Jordan Cave at Prestwood Modern & Classic: "Within the first month I've had more bookings from customers that have never used us before than I ever expected."

The regulars were always coming back. New names are the growth.

Someone comparing three local garages on their phone at nine at night isn't judging your spanner work. They can't see it yet. They're judging what they can see.

Worth being honest about what yours is telling them.

Three seconds is the whole window.

Google's own research put it plainly: 53% of mobile visits are abandoned if a page takes longer than three seconds to load. That research is close to a decade old and Google still cites it. Patience has not improved.

Think about who is looking. Brakes grinding. An MOT that ran out on Tuesday. A warning light on the way to work. These are distress purchases and the customer rings whoever answers first.

So the test is not how the site looks on the office monitor. From landing on the page, how many seconds until someone can call, message or book?

More than twenty and you are leaking work.

There is a difference between winning a popularity contest and winning a judged one.

RampUp won the Innovation Award at the 2026 CAT Awards back in February. That category was not a public vote. It was decided by an independent panel of industry judges who looked at what the product actually does inside a workshop.

The win came within weeks of RampUp's December 2025 launch.

Jim Lang, Director: "Being recognised with the Innovation Award is hugely encouraging, because it shows there's real demand for technology that strengthens independence rather than creating dependency."

Zero commission, a flat monthly fee, and it plugs into any existing garage website rather than tying you to ours.
