I’ve noticed over the last few months that I’m being CONSTANTLY 😅 tagged in posts from the pet businesses I follow.

And I get it… you want people to see your stuff with the Facebook algorithm nowadays being so picky.

BUT...

Using / on every single post you create on a daily basis actually does the opposite for your marketing than what you think it does.

In reality, it starts to feel like someone poking you in the back every 5 minutes 🫣

Eventually? You stop turning around.

What usually happens when these tags are used too much is:

🤐 People mute your group or page.

⏭️ People stop even looking at the posts.

👎 People loose trust in you.

Tagging everyone in your social media posts should be used for big announcements and important stuff that people NEED to know about.

If everything is urgent, nothing is.

Let your content do the talking for you and save tagging your followers for when you really need to get people’s attention 📢

I hear so many pet business owners stressing about not posting enough on social media 😫...

And honestly, I’ve felt that pressure too these past few weeks.

Since saying goodbye to Charlie, my energy has been all over the place. Some days I can show up. Some days I can’t. And I know a lot of you feel the same, even without something big happening in the background.

That pressure to be “on” all the time 😮‍💨🫩😴

Energy isn’t linear. Some weeks you’re buzzing, other weeks you’re running on fumes. That doesn’t make you flaky or bad at marketing. It makes you human.

So if your content drops off when life feels heavy or your battery dips, you’re not the only one. It happens to all of us.

People sometimes assume that once you’re established or doing well, you somehow stop having the same struggles as everyone else.

But you really don’t.

You're still a human first, and a business owner second.

And that's ok!

One of my clients asked me the other day, 'Is it normal to feel this tired when I’m only doing a couple of clients a day?' 😴

And I said, 'What’s normal?'...

What’s normal for one person isn’t normal for another.

Some people can do ten clients back-to-back and still have energy left for the gym 🏋️

Others give so much heart, focus and care that two clients can leave them completely wiped 😵

Neither is wrong.

It just means you’re human.

People often think working with a coach means being told what to do, whether it aligns with you or not....but that couldn’t be further from how I work.

When I was 5, I won a drawing competition and earned the title of Best Young Designer and my masterpiece was displayed on McDonald’s trayliners across the UK 💁‍♀️🎨🖊️

Clearly, I peaked early 😂

Stumbling across this newspaper clipping again made me stop and think about where I’ve ended up as an adult.

Back then, little me didn’t wait for permission, a plan, or perfect timing. She just created what she imagined and put it out there.

Maybe 5-year-old me was onto something 🤔

I lost that energy for a while when I became self-employed, like most business owners do, but I’m glad I found her again.

Because messy action, a bit of confidence, and less overthinking is exactly what builds a business too.

Ever feel like you have to be on call 24/7 for your clients? 😵‍💫

Like if you don’t reply instantly, they’ll think you don’t care, go elsewhere or that you'll miss out on 💰?

That pressure you are putting on yourself is exhausting.

❌ You didn’t start your business to be glued to your phone and be on call permanently.

You started it for freedom… but right now, it probably feels like your business runs you instead of the other way around.

Here’s some simple but effective top tips to help you set healthier boundaries in your pet biz. 👇

✅ Set up a permanent automated WhatsApp/Email/Social media reply so clients know you’ve got their message safely and you’ll reply when you’re back in the office.

✅ Take work off your phone. Delete work related apps from your mobile and only reply from your laptop during work hours.

✅ Use your phone’s digital wellbeing tools by turning on 'bedtime mode' so calls and texts don’t sneak through after hours (make sure you have your voicemail set up first though!)

✅ Set clear office hours and have them visible on your website, socials and email footer, as it helps train clients when you’re available and sets expectations of when to expect a reply from you.

✅ Set specific times in the day for replying to client messages or emails, instead of reacting all day long.

✅ Plan your ‘me time’ first when scheduling your diary. If you're always prioritising client bookings before yourself, you'll forever feel like you never get time for yourself.

You’re allowed to have boundaries.

You’re allowed to rest.

⚠️ And you don't have to feel guilty for it either!!! ⚠️

Nearly lost my old boy Charlie this week 💔

Honestly, I wasn’t ready. I guess you never are though, are you?

He’s been my best friend for over 13 years and has seen me through the best and worst times of my life.

Thankfully, he's still here and made it back home to us, but it really hit home just how precious and fragile our time with them can be.

So if your best mate’s still by your side, give them a hug.

We don’t get them forever…but damn, they make forever better while they’re here ♥️.

The pet world is FULL of passion.

We love hard. We care deeply.

But somewhere along the way, it’s like some people forget that there are humans involved too.

I’ve seen things said online that would never be said to someone if they were face-to-face.

I've watched it destroy fellow pet business owners who are amazing at what they do.

I've had things said about me/to me online that have literally made me feel crushed.

And honestly? I’ve got 0% tolerance for it anymore.

None.

Cyber bullying is real. And it happens to so many of us.

If you're reading this, I want you to know that it's not a you problem, it's a them problem.

Kindness is a choice that we all can and should choose.

So this is a reminder that if you can be anything in this world, be kind. Always.
