😴 'Content fatigue' is when a business shares the same type of content over and over again, and their audiences begin to 'switch off'.

This often happens when a business thinks they've 'figured out what works for them' and sticks to the same formula because they got good results from it in the past.

⏰ If your engagement is dropping, it could be time to step out of your comfort zone and do something different - here are our top tips for beating content fatigue!

Don't stick to one content format - mix it up throughout the week and try live videos, interactive posts, and carousels to keep your audiences coming back for more.

Re-focus on who your target audience is, and make sure your content is speaking directly to their needs, interests and pain points.

Give your content a human touch with team photos, user-generated content and influencer partnerships.

Get creative and experiment with completely new ideas to entertain your audiences in fun and unexpected ways.

Take regular breaks from heavy promotional campaigns and post high-value, sharable content instead to avoid overwhelming your audience.

Mixing things up can revive your social media pages and rekindle that connection with your customers. Do you think your audiences could have 'content fatigue?' Pop us a DM and we'll take a look to see how your feed is looking!

Run an ongoing experiment on your page and let your audience decide what happens next!

Simple examples 👇
☕ Coffee shop: Experiment on ‘Milkshake Of The Week’ flavour combinations. Followers suggest flavours and toppings, and perhaps a customer can be invited to do a taste test and mark out of 10 in a video. When you get a winning combo, it goes on the menu and they can come into the cafe to try it for themselves.
💅 Nail Technician: Try to find the perfect Valentine's Day nail design that you’ll offer to customers at a special discount. Film the process to show off your expertise. Followers vote on colours or patterns they want you to try next.
👗 Online boutique: Try to style one of your best-selling items multiple ways. Audiences decide the next look for you to try. Then name the item after the person who made the winning suggestion.

The key to this working is to start from an angle of curiosity, share updates regularly to keep the momentum going, and to use your expertise as the business owner to judge the results.

When you try a new suggestion, remember to mention the name of the person and thank them for their involvement at the beginning.

And try to find ways that people can then try the results for themselves to help you improve sales.

When people help shape the experiment, they get invested and keep coming back to watch more and see what works.

As a business, making sure your branding is clear and present in your social media content is crucial for building trust, recognition, and loyalty.

Branding creates a consistent, unique identity that fosters meaningful engagement, differentiates you in a crowded market.

It can be the difference between a professional look that creates trust, and an amateur look that sends potential customers elsewhere.

Here are our top tips for ensuring your brand shines through on social media:

🌈 Your logo should be present somewhere on your social media profiles, either as a profile picture, in your pinned posts, or on your cover photo.

🌈 Use your brand colours, fonts, or visual style consistently in your social media content. While it’s important to change things up to keep your audience engaged, your content should still always have a cohesive, memorable look.

🌈 Your banding goes beyond visuals! Your brand can also reflect the tone of voice, emojis and music you choose to use in your content.

🌈 If you use a tool like Canva Pro, use the Branding Kit so staying on brand is always easy-peasy.

🌈 Keep it consistent so your followers immediately recognise your style.

⭐ Are you leveraging your branding enough on your social media profiles?

Your brand is the personality of your business - it's what makes you stand out from the crowd. And it's not just about your logo - colour can significantly increase brand recognition, with some studies suggesting it can boost it by up to 80%.

When your branding isn't visible across your social channels, it becomes much harder for your audience to recognise your content when you appear in their news feeds. 💛

One thing we hear a lot from small business owners is a fear of “getting it wrong” on social media.

That fear can really, genuinely get in the way - especially if you’re not confident on the platforms to begin with.

But here’s the truth: mistakes happen to everyone.

Over the years, we’ve made some truly mortifying mistakes on client accounts (including one this week 👀):

1️⃣ Called sheep goats in a social media post (they had horns… we assumed 😬)
2️⃣ Sent a DM about buying a table on Facebook Marketplace DM to an enquiry on a client’s account by mistake.
3️⃣ Promoted an event for 2005 instead of 2025
4️⃣ Let a scheduled “test” post go live after a training session after forgetting to delete it.
5️⃣ Used a video of a Shetland pony without realising it had sadly crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

Not great - but when you create huge volumes of content week in, week out, it’s unrealistic to expect perfection. So we own it, fix it, learn from it, and move on.

And those mistakes made us better. We now:
✔️ Have stricter approval processes with clients
✔️ Run every caption through a spell check
✔️ Double-check details (yes, even asking “are these goats or sheep?” 🐑🐐)

We hope this makes you feel better then next time you worry about doing something wrong. But also - remember…

👉 There’s always the delete button.

⭐ It’s officially been confirmed by Mr Mosseri (Head of Instagram) - perfectly polished and refined social media content isn’t going to hit the spot in 2026.

They believe that people now want to see and engage with imperfect, messy, raw, vulnerable, and relatable content.

Going forward, accounts that share original and unique content will be the ones that rank higher in news feeds, while algorithms will work harder than ever to detect AI-generated content.

Authenticity and relatability are REALLY easy for social media influencers, independent creators, small business owners and freelancers to achieve.

But perhaps it's not so easy for bigger brands and businesses that have always tried to maintain a professional, high-end look.

So it will be interesting to see which brands adapt and change their approach to stay ahead of these changes, and which ones will struggle.

Want advice on how to navigate these changes? We’re here to help, and our 1-2-1 Sessions are exceptionally popular for smaller business owners who want to talk things through with an expert and put a strategy in place. Get in touch to find out more by sending us a DM! 💛

Confession: this idea for a post didn’t work in the end. So we don’t actually have any examples of AI-generated captions to show you. Soz.

But the fact that it didn’t work out is REALLY interesting. Sometimes, it’s the content that you DON’T end up posting that you learn the most from.

After 30 minutes of scrolling through our news feeds today, we struggled to find any captions that were AI-generated. All the captions were fresh, unique, and full of personality. Which these days, is really unusual.

On reflection, we realised that the news feeds have changed. Original content is now ranking higher, whereas AI content is getting much lower visibility. This is exactly what Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has recently been talking about on his profile.

Let’s be clear - we’re not anti-AI. It can be a great tool in lots of different ways, especially for small businesses.

BUT when it comes to copywriting and social media captions, relying on AI will make your brand sound exactly the same as everyone else. And social media platforms have been recognising this and making big changes to their algorithms.

Sounding like a real human being and connecting with your audiences in an authentic and relatable way has never been so important. Your audiences want to connect with YOUR voice, not a fake AI voice.

✨ Tips for Making Text More Visible In Your Social Media Content

🔹 Choose simple, clean fonts
Avoid overly decorative, cursive, or ultra-thin fonts. Bold and modern typefaces work best, especially on mobile screens.

🔹 Prioritise high contrast
Light text on dark backgrounds, dark text on light backgrounds.
If your background is busy → use a text box, overlay, or blur effect.

🔹 Use consistent brand colours
Make sure your palette includes at least one high-contrast colour specifically for text.

🔹 Avoid excessive shadows, outlines, and glow effects
They often reduce clarity. Use them only when they genuinely improve visibility.

🔹 Keep text short and scannable
People read in seconds — not paragraphs.
Use 3–6 word headlines when possible.

🔹 Place text in “safe zones”
Avoid edges where it could be cropped on Reels or Stories. Keep it centred or slightly above centre.

🔹 Test on mobile before posting
If you have to squint to read it… so will your audience.
