Too much noise in your recordings?
Your mic is probably picking up things it shouldn’t

like your guest’s voice, traffic outside, or your laptop fan.

A noise gate can fix that.

It’s one of the simplest ways to instantly sound more professional, without expensive gear or hours of editing.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this post:

I use a RØDECaster Pro for recording my podcast, and I usually turn the built-in noise gate off or right down during recording.
Why?

Because I’m often filming myself too, which makes it harder to properly monitor the audio live.
So I play it safe and apply the noise gate in post-production instead.

That gives me full control and I can even adjust the settings if the guest moves or leans back in the second half of the episode.

Sometimes it’s not just about using the tool, it’s about knowing when to use it.
