New Year’s resolution, post two… wish us all luck.
Back in 2020 I found myself on the radar of the team at Blue Gem Wind — a joint venture between Simply Blue Group and TotalEnergies.
BGWs mission is to develop floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea, with turbines up to 280m in height….big news to me! And they recognised the importance and value of local content and asked Blue Fin Designs to help with their branding and design work. I’m incredibly grateful they did.
Over the next four years I worked alongside the Blue Gem team on , producing exhibition materials, printed and online assets, plus maps and infographics to show the sheer scale and potential floating wind brings — not just environmentally, but for local communities too.
It was all going swimmingly, and even Covid didn’t stop them. Public meetings moved online, I designed new information boards, working alongside the team developing a virtual consultation room that you could wander around and explore — all from the comfort of your sofa.
A huge thank you to David Jones, Charlotte Roch, and the wider team for trusting me to work with you. And while I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, I can’t help but feel all those brochures and designs may have played some part in yesterday’s exciting Contract for Difference (CfD) announcement 😉
For those who missed it: Blue Gem Wind has been awarded a CfD in allowing it to progress the Celtic Sea’s first floating offshore wind project. An incredible milestone.
P.S. After the lovely messages and likes on my first post, I briefly considered starting a podcast… only joking. That would be a painful experience for everyone involved. Thanks for the positive feedback — I’ll continue this shameless, self-promoting visual journey instead.
