Here's my Art v Artist for 2022
Here is a selection of art I have done over the past year and also a photo of me. This post is also a good opportunity to reflect on my creative output and my development as an artist and designer.
This has been a very positive year for my creativity but it got off to a rocky start. At the start of the year I was working tirelessly on a game project for my masters degree in game development. Sadly, I had to defer my degree and eventually dropped off because it affected my mental health badly and it was too much of a struggle to balance it with working. I also found that it really restricted my creativity as almost all my creative output was tied to the degree, as you would probably see from any of the work I posted up in 2021.
All is not lost though, as I completed four units of the course, that is equivalent to a postgraduate diploma, meaning I now have a PGDip in game development. More importantly than that, i am now able to explore my creative interests more freely and at a pace I can work to.
After rediscovering 3d graphics after many years away from it, I have decided to pursue 3d in greater depth and I am teaching myself about various stages of the 3d pipeline using.
This is why there has been a gradual transition from 2D work to 3D work on my feed. At present, a lot of it is quite simplistic but I am still working to find my style and the type of 3d work I most enjoy producing.
I am going to ensure that in 2023, I continue to practice making 3d art so that I get better. At the same time, I will ensure that I also still continue with other creative passions I have such as drawing and painting, and I will still continue to post these when I can.
This may seem obvious, I have also come to recognise the importance of being part of a community of creatives, either online or in real life and part of developing does involve working and sharing with others and as a community, we need to look out for each other.
