I’ve had the excellent fortune to work as an artist and artwork facilitator on this vibrant community engagement project in the Park Ward area of Halifax, Calderdale, over the past couple of months.

The pattern, bright colour and strong shapes in these artworks were initially produced in workshops with people young and old across this area, and translated into designs to fit onto street furniture, fences and walls.

I get valley fever so badly that at least once a month I need to surround myself with buildings and strangers and do fast walking on hard pavements; negotiating traffic and crowds and bollards and people selling overpriced cups of hot sweetcorn out of a van.

I’m a city girl at heart. I think I need regular city fixes to regulate my dopamine levels.

I can feel overwhelmed with all the green and all the trees, contrary to research which suggests that nature contributes to an overall sense of wellbeing.

It is very pretty looking down through the valley in the light of this early evening however 📸 🌅 ⛅️

Maybe it’s all about balance? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Instagram is full of people doing that one thing, and doing it well, with expertise and passion.

I’m not that person.

I have a million interests, ideas and skills. My brain is running ahead of me most of the time 😂

Social media can feel a bit overwhelming if, like me, you’re doing all the different things. I often feel it’s not the space for someone who works in the way that I do.

It’s difficult to contain what I create to a single passion, nor would I want to, just to make my online content more uniform, predictable or palatable.

so I’m just going with it.

Expect versatility, surprises and energy in my posts.

I love texture, pattern and purpose, so I play around with a heap of different types of materials, with shape, scale and colour with which I create artworks, homewares and textiles across a range of disciplines.

My aim is to combine a modernist approach to a vibrant maximalist aesthetic (an oxymoron of sorts) by layering rich and bold patterns, textures and colours onto everyday items for the body and the home.

I take commissions, run workshops, organise events and installations. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss an idea. Anything goes.

Such a lush day putting together these beauties for Christmas Pop-up shop.

Decadent Bolster Cushions handmade with organic linen and twill inners (using left over pieces) and luxurious velvet covers to cushion your bones and side bits.
Filled with environmentally friendly organic spelt husk which moulds to your body shape providing a springy cushion wherever you require. Spelt husks are naturally heat retentive and anti-bacterial. Perfect for meditation, yoga, cuddling up on the sofa and whilst reading in bed. I use mine on long car journeys to wrap around those uncomfortable aches.

Plus they’re really pretty.
