While originally, when you purchase a game, you purchase the full game, nothing more, nothing less. With the ability to send updates to games online, being able to create “add-on content” for these games have led us to where we are now, Micro-Transactions, DLC (downloadable content), Season Passes, and a whole new economic system in the gaming world.
Titles like League of Legends, Valorant, Fortnite, Rocket League Central, and Call of Duty have found major success ability to provide micro-transactions in-game by producing Skins, Cards, Characters, Weapon Skins, Perks, and more that can only be unlocked through purchasing through the in-game store. With many games following the “Free-to-Play” market with “Pay-to-Win” content, it causes questions on how these developers are focusing on, creating the best game possible or creating the most profitable game possible, and at the end of the day, we’re the ones that can decide on that.
