A 30-second website check most business owners have never run:

Type site:yourdomain.co.uk into Google. What comes back is roughly every page of your site Google holds in its index.

Now count what's missing. If your most profitable service page isn't in the list, it isn't ranking badly — it's invisible, and it can't appear for any search until that changes.

Run it now. If something important is missing, comment what type of page it is (service, location, blog) and we'll tell you the most likely cause.

The most misunderstood label in Google Search Console: "Crawled – currently not indexed."

Plain English: Google visited your page, read it, and decided not to keep it. Not ranking badly — not in the database at all. It cannot appear in any search until that changes.

Indexing is earned, not automatic. Missing pages mean one of two things: something's blocking Google (noindex tag, robots rule, broken redirect — a technical fix), or Google judged the page too thin (a content fix). The labels in your Pages report tell you which.

Check yours today — comment the label you see most and we'll translate it. Full plain-English guide to every label on the blog this month.

An AI company telling you to stop buying AI tools? Yes.

Inside most businesses we audit: eleven AI subscriptions, three writing assistants, a chatbot on a "free trial" from 2025 that quietly became £79 a month. The Subscription Graveyard — where AI budgets go to die.

The tools were never the problem. Nobody mapped the work first. AI applied to a workflow you understand is a multiplier; AI bought from fear is a direct debit.

Before your next purchase: pick one annoying workflow, write its steps on paper, circle where a human just moves information. Automate those circles. You likely already own what you need.

Comment two numbers: AI subscriptions you pay for vs ones used this week. We'll go first.

Your lead form might be interrogating people.

A visitor comes for a free checklist and gets asked for name, email, phone, company, job title and budget. They leave. Not because your offer was weak — because the ask didn't match the intent.

The rule: strangers downloading a guide → 2 fields. Warm visitors booking a demo → 3–4. Buyers requesting a quote → 5–7, where qualifying questions genuinely help.

Most sites bolt the quote-level form onto everything. Fixing it is an afternoon's work, not a rebuild.

The debate: phone number field on a top-of-funnel form — keep or kill?

Your leads aren't being lost. They're being ghosted.

Someone fills in your enquiry form. In most businesses, that enquiry then sits in an inbox for hours while the buyer hears back from two competitors. A Harvard Business Review study found firms replying within an hour were about 7x more likely to qualify the lead.

This is the single easiest thing to automate: form in, a genuine tailored reply out within minutes — acknowledging the actual question, setting out next steps, offering the booking link.

Go check your real response time in the timestamps, not the one in your head. Comment what you find — brave answers only.

AI is creating a dangerous divide.

Businesses that use it strategically are becoming more efficient every month while businesses that use it as a glorified chatbot are standing still.

The difference is not technology. It is thinking.

AI should connect systems, automate processes, surface insights and improve decision making.

If your biggest AI achievement this year is writing social media captions faster, you are only scratching the surface.

Some rare good news for small firms.

AI search citation is coming loose from Google ranking. The share of AI-cited pages that also rank in the top ten has dropped from around three-quarters to roughly a third. A clear, complete answer at position 14 can now be quoted above a thin national-brand page at position 3.

For the first time in years, expertise beats budget.

And the 20-minute fix while you're at it: ChatGPT reads the web through Bing, and most UK firms have never registered with Bing Webmaster Tools. Free, quick, and it opens the fastest-growing search channel in the country.

Is your site in Bing's index? Check today — and if you want to know where you stand across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI, book a free AI SEO audit at wearetrident.co.uk.

The businesses winning search in 2026 have stopped chasing algorithms.

They are focused on becoming the best answer and that mindset shift changes everything.

Better content.
Better authority.
Better customer experience.
Better outcomes.

Search engines and AI systems have one job: Find the best answer.

Your job is to become impossible to ignore.

The question is not whether SEO still works. The question is whether your business deserves to rank.

A £12 lead that closes at 0.3% costs you seven times more than a £28 lead that closes at 4.7%.

That's the trap in Performance Max for lead generation. Google optimises for exactly what you tell it to count — count form fills, and it finds form fillers. Form fillers aren't customers.

The fix is closing the loop: feed CRM outcomes back into Google Ads so the algorithm learns what a real customer looks like, not just a form.

Our position: boards should never see "cost per lead" again. Only cost per customer. Agree? Full breakdown on the blog — link in comments.
