💛 Did you know that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month?

On Tuesday this week it was the usual monthly Ruddi's Retreat - Providing Holidays From The Heart business networking at Ruddi’s By Ruddi’s Retreat (Ruddi's Cafe) in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield.

Each month we meet up chat away and while we're getting to know each other better plus find out about one another's businesses, we create something magical and yummy with the help of Vicki from Ruddi's Retreat.

The Ruddi's Retreat Rockstars Networking is the first Tuesday of each month and it's always food related in some way.

With this month's focus being on Childhood Cancer the monthly theme is 'GO GOLD' for Ruddi's Retreat, in the process, raising awareness for the charity. Wherever possible the campaign also raises much needed funds to help them support families in need of respite care and time out to just be a family.

We made GOLD topped cupcakes💛🧁 . One for Janet and one for Alex back in the office.

💛 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣 𝗠𝗘 𝗚𝗢 𝗚𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗥𝗨𝗗𝗗𝗜’𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧 💛

This one means a lot to me.

In September, I’m swapping the Yorkshire hills for the Greek Islands and setting sail! ⛵

We’ll actually be sailing for longer than September, but as it’s 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, it felt like the perfect time to turn our adventure into a fundraiser for Ruddi's Retreat - Providing Holidays From The Heart and their 𝗚𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻.

Yes… I know. Someone has to do it! 😂

But behind the sailing, sunshine and adventure is something much more important.

I’m raising money to support 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿, and I’m hoping you’ll help me.

When a family is dealing with childhood cancer, life can suddenly become about hospital appointments, treatment, uncertainty and worry.

The things we can take for granted — laughing together, getting away, spending time as a family and making memories — become incredibly precious.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗶’𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲💛

They give families the chance to step away from hospital and simply 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆.

Family has always been incredibly important to me. I was lucky growing up to have a loving family and parents who worked incredibly hard to give us a happy, stable childhood.

I know not everyone gets that same experience. So I want to turn my little sailing adventure into something that can make a genuine difference to families facing something no child or parent should ever have to face.

Alongside our Vicki, Social Progress were founding members of of Rockstars scheme..! and just look at the family feedback we have received due to ther support.

I just wanted to let you know we have left the caravan this morning. It was getting too hot for Sophia so we have brought her home. We have honestly had the best time and the relief from reality was brilliant.
