What would you do with three extra hours in your week?

Spend more time with customers? Get a project moving? Finally tackle that job that keeps slipping down the list?

Microsoft research found that people using generative AI at work spent around three fewer hours a week on email.

The results won’t be the same for everyone, but it shows what the right digital tools can make possible.

Our Skills Bootcamps focus on practical, real-world skills you can use at work, with friendly support to help you put them into practice.

Places are still available on selected Bootcamps in Devon, Somerset and Dorset.

We’ve been talking about lots of different parts of digital transformation this week, from digital confidence and skills to resilience, digital audits and planning.

Our latest blog brings all of those subjects together and gives you the chance to explore them in a little more detail.

We look at how a practical digital transformation roadmap can help you understand where you are now, decide what matters most and make changes that work for your people and your organisation.

You don’t need to change everything at once. Sometimes the best place to start is simply understanding what’s working, what isn’t and what would make everyday tasks easier.

Have a read here:

And if you’re thinking about digital change and would prefer to talk it through, we’re always happy to have a friendly conversation about our digital consultancy support. Get in touch with the Cosmic team whenever you’re ready.

What is a digital audit, and what happens afterwards?

A digital audit is a structured check of an organisation’s technology, systems and everyday ways of working.

A training needs analysis looks at the skills people need for their jobs and where extra learning could help.

These checks can uncover needs around:
• Storing and sharing files safely
• Cyber security, which means protecting systems and information from online threats
• Microsoft 365 and online teamwork
• Spreadsheets and reporting
• Accessible content that people with different needs can use
• AI and automation, where technology completes routine tasks automatically

Training may be part of the answer. The results could also show that instructions need simplifying, systems need improving or staff need more time to practise.

At Cosmic, we turn the findings into a practical training plan with clear priorities and realistic next steps.

A digital roadmap turns good ideas into a practical plan.

A digital roadmap is simply a step-by-step plan for improving how an organisation uses technology.

It shows:
📍 Where the organisation is now
🎯 What it wants to improve
🧭 Which changes should happen first
👤 Who will be responsible for each action
📊 How progress will be checked

The starting point should be a real need, such as a slow process, repeated work, staff lacking confidence or information being difficult to find.

When time and money are tight, the most useful changes should come first. A simple improvement that removes an everyday frustration can make a real difference.

At Cosmic, we help organisations create clear digital roadmaps that bring together people, skills and technology.

Did you know that 72% of charities are in the early stages of digital development?

This means they are still building their digital skills, improving their systems or deciding what should happen next.

Digital maturity describes how well an organisation uses digital tools, information and skills in its everyday work.

Signs of good digital maturity include:

✅ Staff feeling confident with the tools they use

✅ Systems making everyday tasks easier

✅ Information being stored and shared safely

✅ Teams having time and support to learn

✅ Plans being in place if technology stops working

Every team will have different levels of digital confidence. That is why it helps to understand what people can already do and where extra support could make a difference.

At Cosmic, we put people at the centre of digital change. New technology will achieve far more when staff feel confident, included and supported.

Understanding the current position reveals the next step.

A digital skills audit, which is a structured check of the skills and confidence across a team, can provide that starting point.
