The copywriting business I set up in desperation (after being made redundant from my full-time office job) is now 12 years old.

Long live self-employment!

I've had a whale of a time over the last decade or so - not least because when I make a cake for my 'workmates', I can confidently scoff the lot myself. 'Barry the Visiting Window Pigeon' doesn't much like Victoria sponge, anyway.

I began my career in a busy newsroom. A copywriting role beckoned five years after that, and I later went freelance.

I’ve since worked on everything from ad concepts to website copy, scripts, PR, and more.

Anyone looking for a French tutor for themselves - or their kids?

May I recommend my sister - and not just because she’s my sister?!

I’ve never been tutored by her but she has me as a sister, which must mean she is very patient. Joking aside, go and look at her reviews - she’s got some brilliant ones and she’s got all kinds of experience. She also once got stopped in the street, while living and working in Paris, by a canvasser, and when they found out she wasn’t actually French, they were shocked! That story has always stuck out to me; it goes to show how good her French accent must be.

Sarah offers tutoring in person, from her home in Lancaster, or online - and she tutors GCSE and A Level students, as well as older people (retirees or friends looking to learn together - she can teach you as a pair, if you prefer).

Get in touch, you won’t regret it. Even if you’re just going to France for a hol, you could pick up a phrase or two to use while you’re there.

Also, she’s the loveliest person (again, I would say that) but she is. Go, go, go!
