As the year winds down and we look towards a well-earned Christmas break, we wanted to reflect on everything we’ve achieved in 2025.

This season, we supported Shimano throughout the UCI World Cup MTB race programme, working closely with the Sports Marketing team to ensure that the brand was well-represented across the racing calendar.

In March, we hosted EVOC’s global sales meeting, bringing their team together from around the world to connect, share ideas, and be inspired. It was a productive few days in a beautiful Highland hotel with great riding on the doorstep.

In April we partnered with a local volcanologist in Sicily on a unique media shoot for the launch of Ghost’s new freeride bike. Riding down a volcano the day after it had erupted was thrilling, to say the least, and made for a press camp that no one will forget!

For H+I Adventures, we created launch content for their new Pyrenees tour, following riders as they traversed Spain into France, soaking up the trails, landscapes, and food that make that region so special.

Closer to home, we hosted VIP and media guests for Northeast Adventure Tourism on an immersive ride through Aberdeenshire, setting the stage for an in-depth feature that will be published next year and will shine a light on the riding and character of the region.

We also worked with Gowaan, supporting and consulting on their social media and community storytelling as they document life on the Enduro World Series circuit.

And most recently, we’ve kicked off work on social media strategy and activation for the 2026 Fort William Mountain Festival. This is a project we’ll be immersed in right through to the festival in February, and one that’s deeply rooted in community.

A lot of spinning plates. A lot of trust from brilliant clients. And a lot of moments that only happen when you’re out there, on the ground, making things work.

Huge thanks to everyone we’ve collaborated with this year. We’re proud of what we’ve built together and excited for what’s coming next.

We teamed up with H+I Adventures to create the launch film and photography for their new Pyrenees MTB tour — a journey that starts in Spain, crosses into France, and finishes back in Spain.

The aim was to show what it really feels like to be out there. The changing trails, the weather rolling over the peaks, the sense of movement through the vast mountains.

We handled everything from storyboarding and planning to filming, photography, and editing a full suite of assets for their launch from a short film to reels and web videos.

Real riders, real terrain, real adventure.

𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
We had planned to shoot the big descent off Torridon.

But when you’re standing at the bottom of a mountain in Scotland and the clouds are hanging low and dark way up there above your heads you know it’s not just a light drizzle up top. Instead of charging ahead we stopped, stood and waited a while. Three people, huddled under an umbrella, jackets zipped up to the chin, waiting it out.

Here’s the thing: If you know the story you’re telling, you don’t need hours of filming to get it. If your team’s prepped, it might only take ten minutes.

It’s easy to get swept up in the energy of a location shoot. Everyone’s travelled. The director’s keen. The models are ready. The clock’s ticking.

But sometimes, the smartest move is to not rush to the top of the hill in sideways rain. Because when it’s cold, wet, and windy:
— Cameras need wrapping
— Everyone gets chilled fast
— Everything takes longer
— And the creative suffers

Waiting doesn’t mean wasting time.
Waiting means adapting. Thinking. Being smart with the plan.

We’ve learned this over years of working in big, wild locations where the weather is changeable and can really put a spanner in the works if it’s hammering down.

There’s a lot of value in knowing when to pivot, when to pause, and when to go for it.

Just because it feels amazing to ride, doesn’t always mean it’ll look good on camera.

We’ve spent most of our careers chasing singletrack in all corners of the world. So when we say a trail feels good - fast, flowy, techy and wild we mean it. But when capturing mountain biking content on camera that’s often not all you need.

You might have been told that the long alpine descent is a real highlight on two wheels, but if it’s all in the trees, dark, and narrow, it might not show up well on camera.

We have first-hand experience of countless mountain biking destinations around the world, and we translate your product specs into real-world locations and your brand vision to the right terrain, the right visuals, and the right light, all with the logistics to back it up.

Long-travel enduro bike? Let’s show it navigating chunky, high-speed rock gardens not skipping through mellow woodland trails.

Lightweight waterproof jacket? We’ll find that one ridgeline where wind, mist, and movement create visual energy.

Brand campaign that needs open landscapes and drama? We’ll skip the narrow gullies and get you somewhere where the epic landscapes compliment your message.

Sometimes that means hiking deeper, shooting at dawn, or scouting multiple trails to find the one that rides well and frames up beautifully.

Hi there 👋 If you’re new here, we’re LOAM. A marketing agency working with outdoor sports brands, using our destination knowledge and logistical expertise to run your project in the best locations in the world. Tap follow for more valuable tips.

Sometimes the best rides need to start with a bit of graft.

Day two started deep in the forest, on a tight, techy trail that hadn’t been ridden in a while. The moment we reached the top on our recce, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a straight roll-in. Fallen branches and loose debris greeted us - all dragged onto the trail by the snow over the winter. So we paused, grabbed what we could and started clearing it out together. That simple act of trail work set the tone for the day. It felt good. Like we were giving something back before taking our turn. Ally and I probably spent longer than we needed to tweaking corners, shifting rocks, and building up berms but it was worth it.

With the trail finally good to go, everybody dropped in. The forest wrapped around us with loamy corners, off-camber turns, and sniper roots that kept you guessing. It demanded full attention and rewarded you with flow if you found the right rhythm. This riding was fast and felt awesome. Everyone was in their own little pocket of focus, fully present and discovering what Ghost’s new POACHA bike really felt like to ride.

We sessioned sections along with the journalists and Ghost’s ambassadors, getting faster and looser with each lap. Laughter started to echo through the trees.

That day we all appreciated the simple joy of two wheels in dirt.

There’s a particular kind of fear that comes with freeriding down Europe’s most active volcano. The kind that grabs you by the chest and holds tight. It starts before you even drop in. You’re standing at the top, looking down something that doesn’t qualify as a trail. It’s just a grey, dusty void. No obvious line. No traction. Just loose scree and shifting rock, and the sense that gravity is right there, ready to win. The terrain moves under your feet before you're even on the bike, so you already know what’s coming. You can feel it in your arms and legs: the tension, the anticipation. You’re scanning the slope for anchors - for anything that might give you control but there’s nothing. Just a fall line, and your bike.

What makes it worse is that it’s not just about you. When you’re guiding or leading, you’re carrying more than your own nerves. You've got the full med kit, tools, emergency shelter, thermal blankets. There’s physical weight on your back, but it’s the mental weight that lands hardest. You’re the one they look to if it all goes sideways. And you’re the one who has to drop in first.

The technique for riding this kind of terrain goes against everything your instincts want to do. It’s more like surfing than biking except the wave is made of volcanic ash and sharp jagged loose rocks.

The truth is, it wasn’t even the gnarliest terrain I’ve ridden. But psychologically? It was next-level. That moment at the top when your body is screaming to stop, and you still clip in and push off. That’s the part I keep coming back to. The fear doesn’t disappear. But you do learn to ride with it.

Pressure? What pressure?

When Ghost approached us in March to plan their latest press camp they gave us just four weeks to go from concept to boots on the ground. The brief: To organise and deliver a press camp in a location that would push the limits of their new freeride bike on Mount Etna. If riding down Europe’s most active volcano wasn’t enough of a challenge, we also had to navigate Italy during peak tourist season, a papal funeral and some hair-raising Volcanic activity in the lead up to the camp. Accommodation, catering, permits, transport, guides, routes - everything had to be built from the ground up - and the clock was ticking.

LOAM’s project manager Tony took the reins from day one, navigating the logistical minefield with calm precision, despite having never set foot on the island of Sicily before. We scouted the mountain with just one day to spare, descending more than 20,000 feet towards the sea. That was a bucket-list experience in itself.

The night before the first ride, Mount Etna erupted. Visibility dropped but the lava covering the side of the mountain could still be seen from our base in the town.

With the gondolas shut and conditions poor, the likelihood of riding became slimmer and slimmer… until an opportunity in the weather presented itself, and we took it. Working alongside a trusted local guide and volcanologist, our team made fast, smart decisions about where to shoot, how to link zones, and what areas would work best for the story we were telling.

With the fog thick as milk, fresh ash under the tyres and 20 journalists to impress, we set off to descend the mountain. Ghost wanted freeride and that’s what they got. Fast, loose and rough - just what the bike was designed for.

Ghost got the story they wanted, the journalists left stoked, and we proved again that with the right team in place even the impossible is possible.

New project wrap-up. We just ran the press camp for Ghost POACHA freeride bike, and what an adventure it was!

When we received the call they already had an idea in mind.

They wanted to send their journalist guests down an active volcano, and using our logistical expertise combined with in-country contacts and guiding knowledge we delivered.

Mountain weather keeps you on your toes. One minute it’s sunshine, the next it’s snow. That wasn’t in the original plan, but when you’ve done this as often as we have, you know how to adapt.

When the Dolomites decided to throw us a curveball during the ASICS trail running shoot, we were ready. Shifting locations, adjusting schedules, and making the most of the changing conditions—that’s what we do. Because in the mountains, the unexpected often leads to the best stories.
