The truly great things come in play.
My daughter (8) never ceases to amaze me when it comes to realising ideas with ingenuity. Her creative work seems to be free from forcefulness, limitations, and comparison. It happens naturally, which might be the key to artistry.
This has inspired me to start researching Immanuels Kant’s lesser known “third critique”, the Critique of Judgement (Kritik der Urteilskraft / 1790) in which he claims that genius is the ability to independently arrive at and understand concepts that would normally have to be taught by another person. An idea I find incredibly intriguing. Generally Kant’s writing is considered complex and hard to understand - I prefer to read English translations alongside his original German text - but nevertheless fascinating and often groundbreaking. I’ve added a link in my bio to a podcast on the topic that I found insightful. But be reassured that I had to listen to it twice only to get the gist, don’t be discouraged if you find it hard. I will continue to share my understanding of it and how it could help us crack creative work.
