💜 Friends, Andy Purvis & Tim (Seasports) Cox are going to row 3,000 miles in the World’s Toughest Row, Atlantic Challenge in 2024 raising funds for Abigail’s Footsteps.

💜 Team Abigails met Tim at Seasports HQ in Devon and saw the boat complete with Abigail’s logo.

💜 Tim said “I’m very excited and want to get out there now. I feel really privileged to have the opportunity to do this amazing challenge, thanks to Andy. Having trained the navigation theory and safety to the rowers for the past 13 years I know that no two rows are the same, so I know a little of what to expect but also there will be new and different challenges ahead that no one can prepare you for. We have made sure we are as prepared as we can be but who knows what may lay ahead. People ask about my fears, there's the obvious ones of capsize, marlin strike and the storms but these are out of our control.”

What great news and so very well deserved.

His Majesty King Charles III of Great Britain has appointed SAH chairman and our Ambassador Roger Beets as an honorary MBE of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, in gratitude for his contributions to the commemorations and support for WWII veterans in the context of Operation Market Garden and the Battle of Arnhem, over the past thirty years. The British Ambassador, Her Excellency Mrs. Joanna Roper CMG announced this during the official kick-off of the Airborne Month, at the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek.

💜 Louise Giblin Sculptor has been setting up the Lend a Hand installation in the crypt at Rochester Cathedral today.

💜 25 sports stars modelled their hands for Abigail’s Vice President and Sculptor, Louise Giblin MRSS.

💜 The hand casts will be on display in the Crypt from 18th July to coincide with the Olympics.

Deadline alert 🚨 The Care Leavers Fund is closing on 15th July.

Grants of up to £7,500 are available for charities and community groups in Kent and Medway providing frontline services to care leavers, aged 16.5-25 as they move from foster/state care to independent living.
