Good design goes far beyond aesthetics - though we do appreciate the design work that calm our nervous systems with their aesthetics! While visuals play an important role, effective design is about communication, clarity and purpose.

Strong design solves problems, guides people through information, and creates a consistent experience that reflects a business’s values. It considers function just as much as form, ensuring every element works toward a clear and visually appealing objective.

Design should be attractive, but its real value lies in how it connects with its audience, supports the message and drives action. That might be the hierarchy within a leaflet that draws attention to key information, or the user-friendly considerations built into a website. A well-designed brand identity, website or campaign is rooted in strategy, research and understanding, not just decoration.

So the next time you hear someone say “design is just about making things look nice”, remember - the best design is where beauty meets purpose.

A huge shoutout to Katrina, our brilliant Senior Designer, for completing her 10th challenge of the year - the incredible Kent Downs Ultra Challenge 50 km!

Last weekend, Michelle joined her on the trail as they tackled 70,000 steps over 13 hours, winding through the stunning Kent countryside - past Leeds Castle, through Mote Park, along the River Medway, and across the beautiful North Downs Way. 🏞️

There were a few blisters and plenty of achy legs, but their determination never wavered. 💪

Huge thanks to Teresa Morgan and team for the lovely welcome gifts and the deluxe room at Ashford International Hotel & Spa.

We’re so proud of Katrina’s dedication to completing 12 challenges this year, and of Michelle for stepping up to support her on this epic journey. This is exactly the spirit we love at Mivvy - creativity, resilience, and teamwork!

It’s been so busy we are a little late posting that our wingmate Michelle was at Brandshatch Place Hotel & Spa for another brilliant Kent Invicta Chamber networking event last week - chatting to what sounds like everyone in the room (typical friendly Northerner)!

Big thanks to Akita for sponsoring the event and sharing some really useful insight on all things cyber security (always good to know our digital ducks are in a row) although hearing that £3.4 billion losses to UK SMEs a year was quite a shock!

Beautiful venue, great company, and plenty of coffee-fuelled conversations to kick off the day (with the odd pastry or two, or three).

Spread Grazing Events is a Kent-based catering business specialising in beautifully styled grazing tables. Using locally sourced produce, they create bespoke spreads that bring a sense of occasion to everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale events. Every table is thoughtfully curated to be both visually striking and memorable (and most importantly, delicious!)

We worked with Spread Grazing Events to develop their logo, brand identity and website. Our aim was to create a visual style that reflected their quality, creativity and attention to detail while giving their vibrant displays the space to shine. The branding and website work seamlessly together to showcase their services, tell their story and make it easy for customers to connect with them.

It has been great to see their brand come to life (and sample their grazing boards) and to support a local business translate its passion into a strong and consistent visual presence.

At our recent Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce event we introduced ourselves as ‘Creative Wingmates’, but what do we mean?

‘Creative Wingmates’, it’s not just a fun phrase (though we are based on an old WWII airfield in Kings Hill, so the Top Gun vibes are real), it’s the way we work.

Being someone’s creative wingmate is about working alongside them – not just for them.

It means we listen, collaborate, and bring ideas to life in a way that feels right for your business.

- You bring the insight - we make it look the part.
- You’ve got the know-how - we help you share it clearly.
- You want to stand out - we build something consistent, clear and recognisable.

And when you just need to know it’ll be done properly - we’re already on it.

Everything we design, from logos and websites to signage and brochures, is there to help your business show up clearly and confidently - both online and in the real world.

Being your Creative Wingmates means we’re right there with you!

🛫 Our 5 core services:
✔️ Logo Design
✔️ Visual Identity

✔️ Large Format Design

Need a dependable design crew with a personality and a cockpit-level view of your brand? You’ve just found us.

Katrina and Michelle got into festival mode when they were invited to FurleyFest at Macknade in Faversham yesterday. The event was hosted by our client Furley Page.

It was a fantastic evening with great food, entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere. A lovely opportunity to catch up outside of the usual work setting, while also supporting the important work of Pilgrims Hospices through the Furley Page Foundation.

Thank you to Lois and the team at Furley Page for the invite, we had a great time and it looked as though everyone else did too!

Designed, delivered, and now live!

We recently had the pleasure of working with Evoke Media on a new website for their client FSL Security Ltd - a Kent based fire and security business with over 20 years experience of keeping people safe.

After a friendly kick-off with Martin and the team (who were an absolute joy to work with, by the way), we teamed up with our long-time pal Nick Johnson from The Imageworks and got to work.

The result? A site that’s professional, confident and easy to navigate – just like the FSL team themselves.

In proper wingmate fashion, we also created a shiny new anniversary logo and fresh email signature graphics to complete the look.

We’ve been lucky enough to support Holding On Letting Go for a good few years now, thanks to an introduction from our friend Sarah Hawes at Izzy PR.

The charity does incredible work helping bereaved children hold on to precious memories and let go of the sad ones, and it’s touched the lives of several of our friends.

Our role? Keeping their website up to date so people can easily make a referral, sign up as a volunteer, join the newsletter or make a donation. Basically, we’re the quiet ones in the background making sure all the buttons go to the right places.

We’re really proud of the impact you can see in the results below and the hard work that these big-hearted humans give to make it all happen… and we are grateful to play even a small part in the difference they make every day.

We might be a small charity but we're proud of making a big impact!

From April 2024 - March 2025 we have:

⭐Received 398 preliminary referrals who were supported or signposted to appropriate alternative services
⭐Supported 376 families across Kent and Medway
⭐Worked with 25 new schools offering support to children and young people
⭐Invited 171 children and 85 parent/carers to our bereavement weekends
⭐Run 10 bespoke external bereavement training events for health, social services fostering teams and education settings
⭐Trained 53 volunteers in coping with traumatic death, baby loss, stillbirth or neonatal death
⭐Welcomed 128 children and families to our summer family fun day and New Year Party

Thank you to everyone who has helped us.

And if you'd like to help support our work, head to our website to find out about how to get involved including donating, volunteering or becoming a corporate supporter holg.org.uk

Today Katrina and Michelle attended the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce event at The Big Cat Sanctuary, a world-renowned centre for big cat rescue and welfare.

They heard an insightful talk from Adam about the sanctuary’s work, its history as a family-run organisation and its plans for the future. One of the key focuses was the Big Cats in Crisis campaign, which recently relocated five lions from Kyiv in Ukraine to their new home in Kent. These lions had endured war and harsh conditions before arriving at the sanctuary, and it was incredible to learn how the team has supported them in adapting to a safe and enriched environment. We also learnt about the work they do in breeding endangered species, and the role they play in release-to-the-wild programmes.

Exploring the sanctuary afterwards gave them an even greater appreciation for the scale of their work. Every detail, from the design and layout of the enclosures to the carefully considered educational displays, reflects a clear intention to help visitors understand their mission and the care that goes into looking after each big cat.

It was inspiring to see how their values, vision and purpose are embedded in everything they do. The sanctuary’s ability to communicate its mission, engage supporters and deliver a memorable visitor experience is a strong example of how clear brand identity and consistent messaging can strengthen an organisation and inspire long-term support.

Networking is a little like starting a new design project.

You ask questions, you listen, you notice the details, you ask more questions, and before you know it, a connection builds and something starts to take shape. The Mivvy wingmates enjoy meeting business owners and hearing about what makes them unique, what challenges they face and why they love doing what they do.

When we design, it's not about what is on the page. It's all about the conversations. We use those same insights as the building blocks for creating logos, brand identities and websites.

Yesterday, Michelle joined the busy Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Connections event at Eastwell Manor Hotel & Spa hosted by Alison Hadaway and James McComas, and introduced by Tudor Price and the Chamber team. Great to see Victoria back!

If you haven’t visited before, it's well worth a visit to appreciate the 450-year history and beautiful grounds and of course the relaxing spa and outdoor pool!
