LinkedIn isn’t any harder to use than Instagram…it’s just that people are on there for completely different reasons.

When someone’s scrolling Instagram or Facebook, they are looking to kill time, see what their mates are up to, or watch something entertaining. But when someone opens LinkedIn, they’re actually there to make business decisions…they are looking for suppliers, checking out who does what, and figuring out who they want to work with.

That’s exactly why you don’t need to be posting on LinkedIn every single day to get results. A couple of well-thought-out posts each week where you clearly explain what you do and show you know your stuff will get you much further than churning out daily content just for the sake of it.

People on LinkedIn aren’t looking for entertainment or fancy marketing tricks…they want to see that you’re experienced, that you know what you’re talking about, and that you can be trusted to do the job properly.

If your business is the kind where people need to trust you before they’ll hand over their money (and let’s be honest, that’s most trades and service businesses), then LinkedIn backs you up in a way that other platforms just don’t.

Posting on LinkedIn is very different to posting on Facebook and Instagram.

The mistake I see most often is businesses assuming that if they already have a social media manager, LinkedIn is covered. In reality, if the strategy is to post the exact same content across all platforms, that’s where the problem starts.

Facebook and Instagram are built for attention and engagement. LinkedIn is built for clarity and decision-making.

People use it to assess businesses, compare suppliers, and decide who they want to speak to. The tone, structure, and intent behind the content need to reflect that.

Repurposing content can work, but copy-and-paste rarely does. What does well on Instagram often feels vague or out of place on LinkedIn, because the audience is in a completely different mindset.

This doesn’t mean your current social media support isn’t good. It just means LinkedIn requires a different approach.

When the strategy shifts from ‘posting everywhere’ to ‘positioning properly,’ LinkedIn starts to do what it’s very good at - opening doors and creating opportunities.

If LinkedIn isn’t bringing in the right conversations, it’s usually not the platform….it’s how it’s being used.

Instagram likes don’t win contracts, but LinkedIn strategy does.
LinkedIn isn’t about posting more or being clever. It’s about being clear enough that the right person understands what you do, trusts your experience, and feels confident getting in touch.
When that happens, content stops ticking a box and starts producing leads.
That’s why LinkedIn works so well for trades and service businesses that want better clients without the constant algorithm battle.

Hey, I’m Janine.

I work with trades and service businesses who are tired of how much of a hustle Instagram and Facebook have become. Constant posting, keeping up with trends, and staying visible can start to feel like a lot of effort for very little return, especially when what you really want is more enquiries and better projects.

What I focus on is LinkedIn. When it’s used properly, LinkedIn is an incredibly effective lead platform for businesses. The people making decisions are already there, and they’re using the platform to assess, compare, and choose suppliers. Clear content and the right connections go much further than volume or trends.

LinkedIn works best when it’s treated as part of your sales process, not just another social media channel. With the right messaging and structure behind it, it can quietly bring in leads without the constant pressure to keep posting.

That’s what I help businesses with. Making LinkedIn work in a practical, straightforward way that supports sales rather than adding more noise.

If LinkedIn is something you’ve been interested about for your business, feel free to follow along or drop me a message and we can have a conversation about whether it’s worth your time.
