Who ever said a graphic designer can't have their name up in lights? 🤩

My father has worked out of Brentwood for more than 30 years, the majority of that time being spent in this building that he built. Now that we both work from his suite, he decided it was time to up date the sign to reflect both of our services. The new sign places emphasis on our last name, Hart, as we both use or name to build our brands. Whether you need Hart-Pro to remodel your home, or you need Jazzy Hart Designs to market your own business. We're here!

Getting to make this sign was a 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 to say the least. But it was a learning experience I enjoyed. Now I get to look up at the building I've grown up standing outside of and see something I made. It feels otherworldly. I never imagined it but it seeing it feels so right at the same time.

Have you seen the new The Little Mermaid movie yet? I haven't 😅 But I did rewatch the animated version recently. Which also triggered a nightly rewatch of a different disney princess movie.

It's amazing how these classic movies continue to touch our hearts and inspire us no matter how old we get. 💜

Another Sketch Sunday!

The weeks are really flying by this time of year, aren't they?

This project was F U N. More for the stuff near the end. But this was a concept on a Nile River themed luxury hotel. And near the end I made and used this custom foil texture that I would go on the repurpose again in my Showcase in a ton of unique ways. It's now a permeant addition to my asset library. I use it when appropriate, but I love a good foil texture (so I might use it more than needed 🤭).

I've become the social media manager for a local BNB in the Middle Tennessee Area. These are some of the early concepts of the new brand scheme in action with their new logo. We can't wait to use this logo on stickers and printable merch options for our guests!. We are hammering down the last few details before these will go live on their account soon, so you're of the first to see these!

Happy Sketch Sunday!

I remember for the project wanting to capture the image of my dog in a logo. And I think somewhere in that it ended up becoming like the concept for a bookstore that was called Beastie's Books or something like that. 😂

Anyway, I remember making some early development concepts, but this was still when I was getting my bearings with Illustrator. Nowadays I can't imagine not being able to use the program. 😜

Happy Sketch Sunday to round off your week!

These are sketches of my logo, both when I first considered the concept in 2018 and when I went back to vamp it up at the end of 2021. Goes to show sometimes it takes awhile and some reconsideration to land that right design. In 2018, I went into Illustrator with the concept in the top left of the picture because some people said they couldn't see the J and the H in my favorite version in the bottom right. And that always left me kinda unsatisfied with it because I liked the subtlety.

However, when developing my brand scheme in 2021, I knew I needed something more modern and clean that would stand the test of time, so the cursive had to go... As a result, what I needed was the perfect combination of my favorite sketch in 2018 and the right sans serif font choice in 2021 that made my logo what it is now. And I couldn't be happier.

Sometimes it just takes time and some new experience. So it's alright to revisit those old projects. Maybe they were just waiting for you to mature in your skills a little more to get them just right.
