One winning bid. One brilliant day out.

At last year’s Smile Ball, the Divine PR Limited table was delighted to place the winning bid for a canal boat cruise, sponsored by HFR Solutions - and it turned into a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone around the table.

Rather than one person taking the prize, the table split the cost between and made a real occasion of it. It was a lovely way to bring people together, enjoy time away from the day-to-day and make some great memories.

Every auction prize at the Smile Ball offers something special in return: an experience to enjoy, while helping HEY Smile Foundation continue supporting communities, charities and local good causes across Hull and East Yorkshire.

If you are thinking of bidding at this year’s Smile Ball, do it. Gather your friends, colleagues or clients, share the experience - and know that your winning bid will help make a positive difference locally.

Today (Thursday, 10 September) is World Su***de Prevention Day

Together with our partners we want to help people in Hull and the East Riding to feel more confident in supporting someone who is struggling – and help break the taboo around talking openly about su***de.

- Su***de is not always linked just to mental health
- Financial worries, housing issues, bereavement, loneliness, relationships or substance use can all contribute
- People who appear successful or happy can still struggle.

Su***de prevention is everyone's responsibility – we want you to know that you don't need to be a trained professional to have a conversation with someone.

Together we can start the conversation.

The Butterfly Who Flew into a Rave

It was brilliant to spend time with Hannah from the BBC Upload podcast as she interviewed some of the incredible artists bringing this year’s Freedom Festival Hull
to life.

From a secret rave location to a ruined miniature city on Whitefriargate, a towering AI-fuelled circus spectacle and a powerful collision of music, theatre and storytelling at Stage @ The Dock, this year’s programme is full of experiences that will stay with you.

🎧 Butterfly Who Flew into the Rave is at secret location - and feels just like it did back in the day. Expect a spectacle of pure endurance: the atmosphere of a three-day rave condensed into one unforgettable hour.

🏚️ Through the Ruins is on
Whitefriargate - an immersive miniature city left in ruins, inviting audiences to reflect on the brutal real-world impact of war. This has been created by 20 year old, Ukrainian artist, Yeseniia Serdiuk.

🤖 Gorilla Circus: A.I.Thentic
Tower Street Car Park - a story set in a future shaped by AI, where Loki begins to question reality, performed on a moving stage soaring 20 metres high.

🔥 The Torch is at Stage @ The Dock - an outdoor gig-theatre experience where Afrobeat, hip-hop, rap and storytelling collide.

It's a real pleasure to be working with Freedom Festival Hull again this year, supporting the team with PR and helping to share the stories behind the programme.

This year’s theme of Peace feels particularly timely, creating a place for people to come together and experience something meaningful.

Freedom Festival is also taking its work beyond Hull through Freedom on Tour, with events in Tadcaster, Bridlington, Goole and Grimsby. Thanks to the local press for supporting our news stories.

A huge well done to everyone involved. We're looking forward to seeing the festival bring people together once again through brilliant, thought-provoking culture.

- Tilly Barge Cruise

We were delighted to have the winning bid on the Tilly barge cruise at last year’s Smile Ball, run by the The HEY Smile Foundation. Our table came together on the night to secure the auction prize, and on Friday a group of eight of us finally got to enjoy the experience - and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Everything ran so smoothly, creating a wonderfully relaxing day from start to finish. The team were absolutely fantastic - so welcoming and attentive - and made the whole trip feel really special.

A huge thank you to the Hey Smile Foundation for organising such a brilliant event, and to HFR Solutions CIC for offering such a fantastic auction prize. It’s a special experience we’d highly recommend.
