A new quarter and month mean it's time for new goals. I love the feeling of being able to set the reset button not only every quarter but also monthly. It's never too late to start again, which is why I love goal-setting.

Q2 is all about building my business up from scratch again, focusing on creating consistent content, connecting with other freelancers and potential clients, and committing to my income goal.

With April being the first month of the quarter, it's all about laying the foundations first to get there. The main job is finishing my website. It's been on my to-do list since October, and I need an online space where it's just mine!

It's also the end of the tax year, so I'll be filing my tax return as soon as possible. However, I don't pay until the very last minute. HMRC can wait for my hard-earned cash!

I'd love for you to share one of your goals for Q2, as well as something you're working on in April, in the comments below.

It’s Q2, meaning it’s time for a little reintroduction about what I do.

However, I wanted to fill you in on where I’ve been. The entirety of 2025 and the start of 2026 have been a bit of a rollercoaster for me, both personally and professionally. I’ve felt a bit ‘stuck in a rut’ with my own content, so I’ve decided to give myself a bit of a redo.

I’ve been working on a new website that should be ready soon, I’ve planned out my content for the next month, I’m going to be offering some new services, and I’m excited to connect with new business owners.

In terms of my new services, there will still be the usual blogging packages, because they’re my bread and butter, but I’ll also be offering big picture content marketing services, such as strategy calls and planning. I have a background in marketing and love all things content, so why not share that experience and knowledge with clients?

If you’re stuck with your content and have no idea which direction to go, what to post next, or want to add a blog to your marketing repertoire, let’s chat in my DMs and see how I can help you out.

PS I’ve been listening to A LOT of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus since the 20th anniversary show. Also happy to chat all things Disney Channel!

As I work on my new services, I'm officially opening up my books for Q2 and beyond. My expertise is blog post writing, but I also focus on content strategy and planning, too, perfect for small biz owners who don't even know where to start with their content.

Let's talk in my DMs right now, and take your Q2 content to another level.

I might be late to the party, but I'd love to know where you sit with your content in 2026. I'm loving the rise in relatable content from businesses, as so many customers and clients right now want to work with people who live their lives but know their stuff.

What would be your content ins and outs this year? Leave a comment below!

Whilst I'm working on my new website and packages, I wanted to reintroduce my services.

In 2026, I'll be covering all things content: strategy, planning and writing. As much as I love writing blog posts, I also love the theory behind content marketing, diving into competitor research, content calendars and keyword research.

My new packages will reflect that to hopefully hit each painpoint for small businesses when it comes to creating their own content. You can't just post a few times on Instagram and hope it leads to lots of new customers or clients!

There will be introductory prices as I tweak how I operate each package. Some of them will be one-time or quarterly packages, some will be your regular monthly retainers, like my previous blog post packages.

If you're in need of a content queen for all things wordy, slide into my DMs, and we can chit-chat about all things content!

I'm hitting the reset button on my business, so here's to starting over in year 6 of my biz.

March is all about trying to get back into a routine and marketing myself as the fairy blogmother once again.

Freelancing has been a rollercoaster over the past year or so, which means I'm working part-time in my old Post Office job whilst trying to run my business and blog too.

Who knows what the rest of 2026 holds, but I'm excited to refresh all things Content by Sian and put myself out there a little more!

It’s been a hot minute since I posted anything on any of my channels, but a new year means a fresh start (yes, I’m aware that we’re over three weeks into 2026). So where have I been since I last posted, back in September? To start with, I always return to work later than most! I do odd bits of work during the first week of January, basically anything urgent or send over stuff done over Christmas when I was bored. However, it was my birthday last Wednesday, so I always take a full week off to celebrate. In theory, this is my first week of work in 2026!

Since September, I’ve still been working away with clients, but I’ve also taken on a part-time job whilst I work on a few things in life! In October, I started back at the Post Office a couple of days a week, because I needed a bit of consistent income coming in. After five years of self-employment, it feels like a bit of a step back to be back in retail, but for right now, I’m grateful to be able to supplement my freelance income with something permanent.

Back in October, I also started an eight-week digital marketing course because I feel like it’s important to always be bettering your skills. Sure, I’ve got a degree in marketing, but I graduated over ten years ago. It was also great to connect with local business folk, and honestly, the best thing about the course was how well everyone got on. Everyone added their input, and it was great to bounce ideas off people, especially if they could become potential clients in the future.

From that, I decided to set up a new website. It’s been a work in progress because I’m not a web designer. However, I’ve been playing around on Squarespace with it, and it’s getting there. I’m hoping to have it completed soon once I move the domain over from Wordpress. That means lots of new content ideas are coming. I got so much inspiration from my course and the brainstorming sessions I’ve done since.

All of this is to say that I want to make my business work for me in 2026, learning to balance everything better and getting to work with some amazing clients. I’ll be sharing more later in the week about my new services, but if you’re looking for a content writer or a copywriter right now, let’s chat in the DMs! Whether you’re looking for blogs, product descriptions, captions, or anything else written, we can work together soon. I’ve got capacity right now for TWO clients, so be quick!

Is it just me, or does September still feel like a ‘back-to-school’ refresh month, despite being out of education for years? It might be that it just feels like a second chance going into autumn, where we’ve all enjoyed our summers, and now it’s time to get back to business. Literally.

August was the month when I relaunched my business with some new rebranding, because, quite frankly, I was bored with my business. September is looking to be a fun month, filled with lots of activities as well as balancing work and blogging.

In terms of work, I want to post my own content consistently, and up my hours with my main client as we’re in the lead up to Black Friday and Christmas! That means some wiggle room in my capacity, and leaves me time to take on two new clients.

For personal goals, I restarted 75 Soft on Monday, so that’s a huge focus for me for the next four months. Along with that, I’m off to Whitby in a couple of weeks, and want to get everything scheduled in advance so I can actually take a full week to relax!

Leave a comment below of one of your goals for the month, and we can hold each other accountable!

🎤 It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me… and I’m feeling good. 🎤

A new month means a new schedule (could I use the word new anymore right now?), and it means I’ve got availability for September! Whether you’re a small biz looking for just one or two blog posts per month or a more established biz looking for eight or more articles per month, I have capacity for TWO new clients for September and onwards!

It’s a great time to not only reset your life but also your content, too. Blogging is often that task that you wish you had time for, but it always seems to fall to the bottom of your to-do list. Ease that stress with a blog writer!

Let’s chat in my DMs and set up a no-obligation discovery call ASAP!

You have an amazing business, now it’s time to shout it from the rooftops (or share via content). But your brain is like a cloud when it comes to thinking of content ideas.

This is the area that I find clients struggle the most with, whether they’ve been in business six months or six years! On top of everything else you have to do, marketing is often the lowest priority, yet it usually has the most reward, i.e. new customers or clients.

I’ll be honest with you, it’s harder to come up with content ideas for your own business than it is to think of them for someone else’s. I work in content, and trust me, I struggle to think of ideas for my own marketing much more than for my clients!

That’s why it’s a great task to outsource to an expert. Sometimes, taking a step back and letting someone else do the hard work helps in the long run! I say with all of my clients, your business is like your baby. I understand it’s hard to let go, but as a content writer, I specialise in being able to create content that sounds exactly like you. Your customers won’t be able to tell that someone else has written it!

If you’re not ready to give up total control but you’re struggling to come up with new content ideas, you might like my content briefs service. You’ll get 12 full blog post briefs for £150, ready for you to write out whenever you want. That takes the stress away from having to brainstorm when someone else has done all of the research and SEO for you. For a small business, that’s a year’s worth of ideas in one go. Leave a 💜 emoji if you want to find out more about this service!

I can’t lie, I actually don’t use it! Whenever I’ve used it for clients in the past, I’ve used it to write content, and I can honestly say I’ve spent longer editing the piece than I would’ve spent writing it from scratch.

However, I’ve also previously dabbled in using it for research and blog post briefs, but again, it’s good but not great. Sure, my process of researching fully, creating a brief, and then writing it all up might take longer, but my clients deserve the best quality.

If you’re looking for a quick and cheap alternative for writing content, give it a try. However, if you’re looking for a proper investment in your content marketing, hire an expert. In fact, I’ve declined to work with businesses that are insistent on making me use AI. I’m not that knowledgeable about it, and I’m also not comfortable with using it either.

So if you’re looking for someone with over fifteen years of writing experience, including seven years of working with clients, you need me as your fairy blogmother. My content is all AI-free, meaning you know that I’ve done thorough work for you, and everything is fully personalised and optimised for your website. Instead of speed, I focus on strategy, skill, and quality.

The answer is… There is no right answer.

Small businesses can get away with one blog post per month, provided that it’s relevant to their business and fully optimised. Whilst behind-the-scenes content works if you post more (or onto your socials), it’s not the best idea if you’re looking to rank higher on Google and you’re just posting once a month.

The bigger your business, the more you should be posting. Weekly is a great aim, but with a bigger budget, three times a week can work too. It depends on how much traffic you get on your website, how willing you are to promote your blog on other channels (such as on your socials), and your budget for a content writer.

Posting regularly and consistently is the key, as well as getting the right topic. That’s why I’m big on research, especially keywords. You want to rank for relevant content that customers or clients are actually searching for. Perhaps there’s a topic that customers always ask about when purchasing from you? That makes a relevant blog topic. Maybe there’s a topic that your clients should know about that’s happening in your industry. That’s a relevant blog topic, too.

Whilst I’m big on keyword research, I also look through your comments and reviews to see if I can pull any content ideas from those too. Whilst it’s important to rank higher on Google if you want to make more money (who doesn’t?), you should also consider your current and potential customers who already follow you. What would push them to make another sale or buy from you for the first time?

Blogging is both simple yet complex, meaning a lot of businesses put it off. Whether you’ve got a bunch of incomplete drafts done or you’re just stuck for ideas, your fairy blogmother is here to help! If you want to kickstart your blog ahead of Q4, let’s chat in my DMs this week!
