Getting to the finishing stages of my project for the Hand & Lock Diploma Jewellery module! It’s fascinating how much of a difference stitching over the edging wires makes: compare the leaf on the right with the one on the left in the first image.

I've been spending time at Tabley House, near Knutsford, in Cheshire lately to examine some of the gorgeous Georgian waistcoats in their costume collection. So far I have looks at about a dozen, and they are all fascinating and all very different. They mostly belonged to Sir John Fleming Leicester, 1st Baron de Tabley, who was quite a fashionable chap!

Learn from the expert and join her class in the afternoon to create a delicate plant from the Joseph Banks Florilegium, £15 from 1pm - 4pm. Numbers are limited so book early.

Come and see me at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum in Whitby on March 31st! I'll be stitching a design based on Joseph Banks' Florilegium. You could even join me for an embroidery workshop in the afternoon, and learn something of this popular and relaxing hobby.
