I've been spending time at Tabley House, near Knutsford, in Cheshire lately to examine some of the gorgeous Georgian waistcoats in their costume collection. So far I have looks at about a dozen, and they are all fascinating and all very different. They mostly belonged to Sir John Fleming Leicester, 1st Baron de Tabley, who was quite a fashionable chap!

Come and see me at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum in Whitby on March 31st! I'll be stitching a design based on Joseph Banks' Florilegium. You could even join me for an embroidery workshop in the afternoon, and learn something of this popular and relaxing hobby.

Hope to see you there!

I had a great day yesterday at Selby Textile Arts Group doing a workshop on Georgian Embroidery. We all had a lot of fun and stitching, and I was very impressed how much they all managed to get done! One of the gang went off piste on the colours, but it looked rather good. Well done, ladies!

Great afternoon yesterday doing a workshop on Georgian Embroidery for HEY Volunteers. It was at Hull Guildhall, and a good time was had by all! We were making embroidered hankies for Valentine’s Day gifts, at least in theory. They all did very well, with several of them finishing the embroidery.

Plus some lovely tiles by the fireplace in the room we used!
