WhatsApp Warning on settings – don’t ignore
Billion users of WhatsApp are being urged to open their messaging applications and make one very simple modification to their profiles.

Your urged to follow the most recent recommendations from the Meta-owned company if you use WhatsApp to interact with friends and relatives. Fans of the very popular messaging app are being advised to make sure their profile image is set to private by the service, which has about 2 billion monthly users worldwide. Although it’s a fairly simple mistake to make, leaving this setting set to public exposes hackers valuable information about your identity, which can make it much simpler for you to become a victim of the newest scams.

To make your profile picture only show for your contacts:

Tap Settings > Account > Privacy > Profile Picture > then change to My contacts.
When done only your contacts can see your photo, noone else.

It’s also worth being vigilant in if you receive a WhatsApp 6 digit code reference, this is a scam and they are trying to take control of your WhatsApp.
And then their is the WhatsApp Hi Mom scam that is also worth knowing about.

Some things to think about when you receive a message:

STOP, count to five, then speak. To protect your account, make sure WhatsApp two-step verification is on, that your privacy settings are satisfactory, and that your six-digit pin is safe.

CONSIDER: Is this request reasonable. Are they requesting that you share a PIN code that has been supplied to you? Do they demand payment? Are they pressuring you to respond right away? Keep in mind that con artists exploit people’s generosity, trust, and desire to lend a hand.

CALL: Make sure it’s truly your friend or relative by giving them a call or asking them to leave a voice message. You should only take a request into consideration if you are certain that it comes from a reliable source. Inform Action Fraud if it turns out to be false.
