🌿🦁 Big Toddle 2026 Success! 🦒🐘

Last week we took part in the Big Toddle 2026 for Barnardo’s alongside our friends from Lisa's childminding

We completed the toddle twice to make sure all of the children had the opportunity to take part, and on the second day we were even joined by some special four-legged friends! 🐶

We made the children their own maps with things to spot along the way, helping to keep everyone engaged and excited throughout the walk. Every single child completed the toddle and had a fantastic time, from our youngest toddlers aged 1 to our oldest children aged 4.

We also met some lovely ladies along the route who very kindly gave us a donation, which was such a wonderful surprise.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported us. Your generosity means so much and helps Barnardo’s continue their incredible work with children and families.

We set ourselves a fundraising target of £50 each and managed to raise a total of…

Half term fun ☀️
We had a wonderful visit to see our friends at Anchor - The Manor House Knaresborough where we chatted and played
We visited Kingfisher Kiosk at Conyngham for a play and lunch in the sunshine with friends and today we had a great day at the beach! We left Knaresborough in a thunderstorm, but the closer we got to Redcar the brighter it became and luckily we managed to avoid the rain all day. We enjoyed a picnic and cake to celebrate Lisa’s belated birthday before heading down to the beach for lots of fun by the sea. We finished the day with a snack in the café before heading back home. 🌊🏖️🎂

Today we visited Harlow Carr Gardens Harrogate to see the bee hives and we were lucky enough to have front row seats to watch the bee keepers at work, smoking the bees out of the hive. 🐝

It was amazing to see first hand all the things we have been learning about over the last week and really brought our bee topic to life for the children. We talked about how bees work together, how beekeepers care for the hives and why bees are so important to nature.

We finished off our day with some campfire building in the woods followed by a play at the park xx 💛🖤

🐝World Bee Day 2026 🐝
This week we have been learning all about bees and the wonderful things they do, including the famous waggle dance, which we have all had lots of fun practising!

We have got stuck into lots of bee-themed crafts and outings to help us learn more about these amazing little creatures and the important role they play in nature. 🌼🍯

Next, we will be moving onto mini beasts and discovering all the tiny creatures that live within nature around us. We also have some very special visitors coming to see us soon, so watch this space… 🐛🦋

We were sent this lovely photo from Knaresborough Fire Station with a thank you for the cakes and cookies from our random acts of kindness last week.

Russell managed to resist them and saved them to share with everyone during training on Monday evening! 🍪🧁

Today we had the loveliest surprise from Sarahs Childcare as part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💚

The children came to visit us with beautiful flowers, tasty buns, and the sweetest laminated card as part of their “Random Acts of Kindness” initiative for people who help care for pets 🐾

Such a thoughtful gesture that really brightened our day — thank you to all the children and staff for your kindness and for spreading so many smiles. It truly means a lot to our team 🥰
