It’s been a little while since we last posted here!

We’ve been busy working away on websites for our clients over the past few years, so social media has taken a bit of a back seat. We’re also currently giving our own website a bit of a refresh so it better reflects the kind of work we’ve been doing.

While that’s in progress, we thought it was a good time to reconnect here and start sharing again.

**BAR STAFF VACANCY**

With Duncan's on the Green as Lamlash Golf Club’s new caterer and an increase in our visitors and member numbers we are now looking for someone to join our bar team.

Experience preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

Working alternate day/evening shifts with flexiblity. Could also suit part-time hours.

LGC is a Real Living Wage employer - currently £10.90 but with potential for more for the right candidate.

Great advice guys!

Looking to optimise your website layout? Google's John Mueller recently imparted some wisdom on this.

He advised: for designing your site, a Pyramid structure's the way to go.

A what?
On your home page, if you feature links to every other page on your site together, this 'flat' structure isn't best for navigation. Instead, a pyramid approach sees a set of main topics leading into more specific subtopics, & so on.

This way, Google can better identify how pages relate to one another & 'crawl' your site more easily. They can see more clearly the context of the pages & relationships between them instead of the flat structure making them all appear equally important.

Tips:
When creating a hierarchy, broader topics should include broader keywords, & then become more niche & include long-tail keywords as you move down subtopics.

Always have the user in mind. How can you take them to where they need to be in the most logical route & create a smooth, easy experience? This is vital for SEO.

Don't go overboard though. Going too deep into subtopics can be more confusing than it needs to be.
