The high street and shopping as we know it, is changing lovelies and has been for a long time. Covid is merely that extra nail in the coffin for many brands like Topshop who are set to enter administration. It’s very sad but the karma of fast fashion is finally doing a full circle. Unfortunately, it’s the staff who suffer and lose out the most and it’s not their fault.
The high Street for years has failed to adapt and change. Quality has dwindled over the years to squeeze profit margins and it’s not good enough. Shoppers today want not only quality but an experience and personalisation.
This very frustration and observation of my own 5 years ago was one of my motivations to create style code. I remember saying “You wouldn’t buy a foundation without being colour matched by a makeup artist, so why isn’t the same service being applied to buying clothes?”
Until brands come around to this way of thinking, its up to us to educate ourselves and is why I wanted to teach Women how to customise the noise of fashion for themselves with Style Code.
Now more than ever Online shopping is becoming our norm and loosing that feel, try and touch of shopping is very hard for many. I think now is the time to press pause, invest in yourself and discover your personal style.
I predict the Personal Styling industry is about to (already is) have a boom. And as we get used to shopping from home, I’d say brands need to give us a reason to visit their stores in the future. An experience, emotional connection and personal service
Well I’ve rambled on and shared my thoughts on the situ but I’d love to hear what yours are below?
P.S. I’ll miss my Jamie jeans, the only Topshop product I’ve recommended for years 👖
