One minute you’re planning content for a client.

The next you’re seeing their product pop up on a celebrity’s social media. 🤯

Social media can be frustrating, unpredictable and completely chaotic at times…

But moments like this are a reminder of why I love it.

You never know who’s watching.

IYKYK!

I am absolutely terrible at posting on this account. I started it thinking it would be how I would get clients. I’d seen so many perfectly curated Instagram feeds by people claiming to be the best social media managers.

Then I realised they are just really good at Canva and their social media is nothing more than showcasing that skill.

Regurgitating post captions they prompted ChatGPT to create for them. Here is my reality:

🛠️ I’m busy running my clients socials - that’s not just posting random s*%t. I research industry specific trends, making sure their content is searchable and relevant

🪜 I design and set up high performing ads, building a sales funnel for high ticket businesses

☀️ I immerse myself in my clients businesses. I know their products and services and I communicate that to their audience - always adapting and optimising based on data

🍬 I write technical blogs and website copy that is meaningful and showcases my clients knowledge and expertise

✨ I support the sales process and am trusted by my clients to speak to their clients on their behalf (huge compliment)

📧 I run email campaigns that build trust and align with my clients business goals

While many SMM are busy making their feeds pretty, I am busy building trust and sales funnels for my clients.

So I will not be curating a cute insta feed with regurgitated AI content. I will INconsistently post about social media and digital marketing for businesses to hopefully help self employed people who can’t afford to employ someone to do their digital marketing for them.

This post isn’t related to digital marketing. It’s 100% a shout out to ANYONE who works for themselves and feels the GUILT.

I am my own boss because:

⛓️‍💥 I value my freedom and decided the only person to covet that could and would be me!

🌱 I value my freedom and decided I needed to have control over my working and non working days! If I want to work till midnight so I can spend the day time with people who matter I can.

🧘🏼‍♀️ I value my freedom and use it to ensure I am well. After years of ignoring a serious back problem I learnt this the hard, long and painful way. Prioritising my health makes me a happier and better person.

🛫 I value my freedom so I actively chose to make sure my business is not restricted to a single location. I can work from anywhere there is an internet connection.

⏳ I value my freedom so I maximise my time and structure my days to suit me and my clients.

Creating a business that brings balance to your life is something to be proud of, not feel guilt about.

It’s about being brave and having the grit and determination to make it happen for you! To keep going regardless of the people around you who don’t understand why we don’t want to “just get a job”.

Don’t feel guilty you are doing personal chores on a Wednesday morning.

Don’t feel guilty you are getting your shopping delivered, there’s plenty of better things to be spending your time on.

Don’t feel guilty you walked the dog for two hours at lunch time.

Don’t feel guilty you created a business that meets your needs and gives you the life you want. You deserve it!

I bet Elon, Mark and Jeff don’t feel guilty… also doubtful they walk their own dogs or do their own shopping!
