David was at Birmingham Pride last week, and something stood out.
Not the atmosphere. That was exactly what you would hope for. Busy, vibrant and full of energy. The community showed up in force.

But the brands felt quieter.

Fewer rainbow flags in shop windows. Fewer visible campaigns. Less presence from organisations that, in previous years, were front and centre.

It reflects a wider shift we are seeing. A move away from highly visible Pride marketing, driven by changing expectations, increased scrutiny and a more complex cultural landscape.

But it also raises an important question.

The LGBTQ+ community is not a moment in the calendar. It is part of your audience, your workforce and your brand. And when visibility drops, it says something about how organisations show up when things feel less comfortable.

At a time when representation and rights still matter deeply, silence carries weight.
This is not about returning to surface level campaigns.

It is about consistency. About clarity of values. And about showing up when it matters.
