The Marketing Optimist We can take care of every facet of marketing your business for you. From creating a compelling story Marketing spend must to translate into sales revenue.

Marketing is one of those things businesses know they need, but don't have the time to do. Businesses see marketing as needing constant attention, producing lots of nice looking things which don't appear to drive sales. Not every marketing campaign will result in a sale, but every action should move customers through the sales funnel. Marketing to fill up your glass
A consistent, measured, marketing campaign pays off in the long run: it takes time and a targeted approach to build a brand, but every step you take adds more liquid to the glass. Each action you take from a phone call to an exhibition will have an effect on your business and can't been seen in isolation. I'll help you turn your marketing spend into sales revenue
There are so many things to consider when putting a marketing strategy together, that most SME owners just don't have the time to do it themselves. Let me help you through.

Can we lend you a hand?

Sometimes, to make an impact, you need to do something a bit more involved than an email to win customers.

And that’s where the idea for The Marketing Optimist’s “Can we lend you a hand” campaign came from.

Digital marketing is just part of the marketing mix, a part that seems long forgotten is Direct Mail. Direct Mail used to get a lot of bad press back in the day.

And rightly so, because it was badly used and targeted and mainly junk mail.

But now a well planned physical direct mail campaign as part of a digital campaign can be really effective.

It work even better if your direct mail is “Chunky” and well thought through, rather and just a letter and a brochure.

And that’s where our “Can we lend you a hand” campaign comes from.

Each mailer was handmade and crafted on the kitchen table, packaged and posted to create interest and response.

Inside each was a tin, with a business card and a QR code under the lid which takes you to a very specific landing page targeted, in this case at the legal profession.

We carefully chose each person and understood their needs and showed how we could help them.

The mailed was followed up with an email and a LinkedIn message and dialogue is on going with the prospects.

The mailer isn’t deigned to land a job on it’s own, its a stand out piece designed to gain attention in a crowded space and start a conversation.

If we can lend you a hand with a, integrated marketing campaign let us know.

The Government came to visit us at our office in Leeds the other day.

We were visited by Emma Jones and a delegation from the Office of the Small Business Commissioner as part of their SME Safari

In the hour we had our founder Richard Michie spoke about the marketing campaigns and strategies we run for our clients and the challenges SMEs face in Leeds.

It was a great opportunity for us to speak directly to government and we’re really flattered that they took the time to visit us.

Huge thanks to for the photos and Rebecca Bamford for the video.

We are The Marketing Optimist and we are LinkedIn addicts.

Which is why we loved The Marketing Meetup this week in Leeds.

Eve Macdonald lead the discussion on how and, importantly, why you should build a personal brand on LinkedIn

The panel discussion with Jessica Rhodes CMktr, James McMath and Ben Potter talked right around the subject talking about the dreaded thought leader’s disease - basically if you use that term you’re not one at all.

There was lots of discussion around the use of AI to create content, our thoughts are you are on a dive to the bottom of you’re prompting and posting with no editorial thought going in to your post.

We really love the opportunity to meet markets at these events, it’s gets us out of the office

The next Marketing Meetup in Leeds is in October at Genio on Leeds Dock

News stories are no longer tomorrow’s chip paper. Once the initial coverage has drifted away, good story placements hang around and boost SEO and search rankings.

Getting on TV and in print is very cool and businesses love it. Digital cover is great but doesn’t always feel quite a special. One thing that press coverage does do, no matter where you get it, is help your SEO massively.

Google and the AI searches love a citation, a quote, a third party reference and they comes in bucket loads with good PR.

And that’s why we run these campaigns for clients like Michael Wood at North Bay Group Ltd. They got massive coverage for the TV, print and digital slots we got them that raised awareness around their new care homes in the North of England.

If your business needs a PR boost and an SEO lift my team The Marketing Optimist are ready to help you just drop us a line.

LinkedIn Business pages don’t work.

Or that’s what most people will have you believe. The truth is that if you’re not posting to your business page it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. No posts, no reach, no engagement, no point posting.

Posting to business pages on LinkedIn is hard and I think that one of the main reasons companies avoid it.

Post to your private account and you can be you, off the cuff, off brand, interesting even, you’re allowed to have an opinion.

But create social media posts for a Business page and suddenly you lose all interest and drive because you are worried about how the business talks, what it looks like and who it’s talking to.

We run successful business pages on LinkedIn for Sharp Consultancy, Andiamo and Delamode International Logistics. And they do really well.

The difference is that we make them interesting by involving the business teams, posting about relevant stories, having an opinion and keeping the messaging consistent, without being dull.

Sure personal pages are important, but business pages on LinkedIn are the shop window for your business, if there’s nothing there, are you still in business?

If you need help bringing your LinkedIn business page back to life and making a difference again, let me know

It’s been a busy week for us. Fair to say we are networked out. After the in Manchester on Wednesday we were at Digital Clubhouse on on Thursday.

This is a must for serious digital marketing geeks like us as industry experts and plucky startups talk about big swings in their marketing as well as the f*ck ups too.

It’s well worth attending if you get the chance.

Don’t shout us down, we love Manchester.

We know, we know, but the place is just so inspiring. There’s a real buzz.

We were there for which was held at beautiful head office.

There were some brilliant talks by Penny Langton and Mercy Fulani and it was a chance to meet lots of new faces. A big hello to Lauren Martin, Olga Kapachenia and Adil Ladha who organises the meet-ups.

We loved it and we’ll be back for sure
