Today I stepped well and truly out of my comfort zone…

I delivered a presentation to Colton Primary School in Leeds as part of Enterprise Week, to hopefully inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Despite my initial nerves (which soon faded when all their smiling faces came in) it was one of the most rewarding things I’ve done in a while!

We talked about my journey setting up Black Door Social, how social media works in the real world of business, and how they can use it to promote the brilliant business ideas they’ll be developing this week.

The energy, the questions, and the enthusiasm from the kids were incredible - with lots of hands going up to ask questions!

Thank you to Sinead from Renovate Leeds Ltd for setting this up, hopefully I’ve inspired some future entrepreneurs 🫶

💙 This morning at TRUST Networking, we were delighted to welcome back James Naylor, who gave us the latest fundraising update on Alfie's Legacy / Remembering Alfie Naylor - Fund Raising for CRY.

Many of you will remember James from his previous visit, where he shared the heartbreaking story of his son Alfie, who passed away tragically from Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS) in August 2025, aged just 19.

James updated us on the incredible progress being made, and we were so proud to present him with a cheque for £2,500 - a donation that will go directly towards funding a cardiac screening day, giving 100 local young people the chance to be tested for SADS.

Upon receiving this donation, James commented: “WOW! Many thanks for this Trust Networking - this gets us one huge step closer to another screening!"

It was a very special morning and a powerful reminder of why we do what we do - not just to support each other in business, but to make a real difference in our local community.

🧡Yesterday, we were proud to present Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity with a cheque for £2,500 - and it was a moment that reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

Earlier this year, Fiona Harris from the charity joined us for our 10-minute presentation slot and gave our members a truly powerful insight into the vital work they carry out every day across Yorkshire - from peer support groups and wellbeing walks to hardship grants for families in desperate need.

The statistics alone stopped us in our tracks. Every week, 15 people across Yorkshire receive the life-changing news that they have a brain tumour. Yet brain tumours receive less than 2% of the annual cancer research spend in the UK. That's why the work Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity does matters so much.

💬 Fiona said: “Every week, 15 people across Yorkshire are told they have a brain tumour diagnosis- bringing not only physical challenges, but also emotional and financial difficulties for patients, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones.

"We are incredibly grateful to the caring corporate community and generous businesspeople at TRUST for their donation, which will help improve the lives of anyone impacted by a brain tumour diagnosis across Yorkshire. Their support enables us to continue being a hand in the dark for our families, delivering timely and meaningful support where it is needed most."

This is what TRUST Networking is all about - local businesses supporting each other so we can give something back to our community. Every penny of our membership fees that isn't spent on essential running costs goes straight to causes like this one.

What an incredible afternoon in the beautiful marquee at Hazlewood Castle! 🏰✨ I was delighted to attend the Martin House Children's Hospice Ladies’ Lunch today and what a special event it was.

Over £26,000 was raised to fund the incredible work that Martin House Childrens Hospice does for children and families.

It was made even more special by having my lovely friend Catherine Wills from Brown & Wills Recruitment by my side for the afternoon - thanks for joining me🫶🎉
