"Today, Hype3 came into the Trio office to interview Jamie-lee and me as part of the Yorkshire 30 Under 30 campaign, discussing our experiences at Trio and the journeys that brought us here ๐ŸŽฅ

One question that stuck with me was how I ended up where I am now. It got me thinking about the path that led here, from spending hours tweaking Tumblr themes and designing Bebo skins, through A Levels, a degree, a postgrad, and eventually into a career in digital marketing and project management.

I won't lie, I definitely had clammy hands at first. Talking about yourself can feel a little strange. But once we got into discussing careers, digital and the things I'm genuinely interested in, the conversation flowed naturally. Lewis and Harrison did a great job of making us feel at ease throughout (even when I had to do 5 takes of a cringe hand on hip movement).

A month after BrightonSEO, here are the takeaways our newly promoted Senior SEO & AI Search Manager, Darren, is still thinking about.

I headed down to Brighton with Jake, our Paid Media Manager, partly to prep for our upcoming Trio Presents event and partly because there's nowhere quite like BrightonSEO for connecting with and learning from peers.

These are a few takeaways that stuck with me:

โœ… The industry seems to be settling on the acronym GEO rather than AEO for now... although that'll probably have changed by the time you read this.

โœ… Entity SEO was everywhere. The focus is shifting towards helping search engines and AI systems understand who you are, what you do, and why you're a trusted source. It's becoming less about keywords and more about authority, relevance and brand connections.

โœ… LinkedIn is playing a bigger role in AI visibility than many people realise. It repeatedly came up in many talks and discussions around AI citations, AI Overviews and how LLMs are sourcing trusted brand and author signals from beyond traditional websites.

โœ… The crossover between SEO and PPC was impossible to ignore. Attending with Jake, our Paid Media Manager, made those connections even more obvious, especially as we were preparing to return and deliver a talk on exactly that topic.

Seeing both disciplines discussed side by side, and having those conversations with colleagues and industry peers, added a different layer of value to the event.

The 'SEO is dead' jokes were still doing the rounds, as expected, but if anything, the event reinforced the opposite."

"We love getting to experience our clients' services firsthand, and recently Jamie-lee and I had the absolute pleasure doing so with our incredible clients, Mini First Aid! โ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿฉน

We attended their baby and toddler first aid session, which was the perfect opportunity for us both to refresh our existing knowledge for our own little ones aged 5 and 3.

We were guided through a comprehensive course, covering newborn care to general child first aid, including handling & identifying illnesses, burns, choking and more. Best practices are always evolving, so it was brilliant to get up-to-date guidance, especially since our last classes were back during pregnancy!
