Someone once said if you take care of someone with dementia, you lose them more and more everyday. When they get the diagnosis, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment and when they pass away. This is called "ambigua loss".
I don't wish dementia on anyone. As the brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They could end up lying in bed, not moving and not eating or drinking.
There will be people who will scroll past this post because Dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has battled or is still battling dementia.
To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like my friends to put this on their page today.

CARE
A job we love with all our heart,
In this pandemic we've played our part,
To gladly work long hours caring and giving,
To ensure our service users enjoy a good living,
Told to stay in their home's without families they miss,
Not allowed to see them to hug or to kiss,
We all do our best with an open heart,
As we miss our own loved one's as we're kept apart,
Yet care work is now seen in a better light,
As we are clapped and thanked on a Thursday night,
But the truth of it is we are happy to care,
Always before the pandemic was there,
We smile and stay strong under the mask we now wear,
To keep us all safe as we deliver your care,
It's strange and confusing and at times it's been sad,
We chat and joke to remind you of good times you've had,
Better days are coming or so they say,
When families can meet laugh,hug,kiss and play,
We'll still be here when this pandemics gone away,
To take care of your needs day after day,
To all care workers I say this to you,
Your amazing and kind through and through,
So thank you for all the hard work that you do,
Care would be nothing without people like you 😇
