Should I have music with my video?

In short – yes!

Music elicits emotions and allows us to convey a more effective message. It can help your audience remain engaged, and so they are more likely to retain the information you are presenting to them.

Music is also memorable – how many times have you caught yourself humming a jungle when you have seen or heard an advertisement with a catchy tune? Or looking up at the TV when you hear your favourite pop song during a commercial break?

You don’t need to go all out and pay the licensing fees for the next Beyonce track, but adding music that represents your product, will help it to stay in people’s minds, and turn those prospects into customers!

What is Spot UV?

Spot UV is the name given to a special finish which adds a gloss lamination to certain areas of a printed product.

This can create a 3D effect, and can elevate a simple and clean design.

It can be used, as part of a background, to highlight a logo, or make any other specific part of your product stand out.

We find it is incredibly effective on business cards and really adds to that professional and luxurious feel.

Stationery Saturday!

Business Stationery has a lot of different elements, and this series will help you discover which products would be beneficial to you and your business.

Letterhead is a great place to start, especially if you send correspondence by post, or need hard copies of documents to give out.

A letterhead should be clean and simple, yet be clearly recognisable as belonging to you.

You need to ensure that it is created on a paperstock that can be run through your office printer, and can also be written on without smudging.

It sounds simple, but is much more than just popping your logo at the top of the page!

This letterhead we created for a property management company incorporates a footer with contact information, and a nod to the logo in a watermark style to give the page a bit more depth.

This creates a visually appealing setting for any letter, quotation or invoice, ensuring that your brand is always at the front of your customer's minds!

FAQ Friday

How do I decide what I want my website to look like?

Your website needs to represent you as a business, and this can be a difficult thing to achieve. The use of imagery, colour, and fonts are all important elements that need to work together and blend seamlessly.

Before beginning any website project, we will arrange for a meeting or phone call with you to go through what you envision for your website. We will ask for mood boards and inspiration, so that we can ensure we are all on the same page.

If your business has brand guidelines, we will work to ensure that every aspect is cohesive and on brand. If not, we will work with you to create these, and create a fluidity that will bring your brand and business to life online.

The power of white space

One of the biggest misunderstandings we come across when designing for a client, is that they want to fill every millimetre of space with crammed in information.

We understand wanting to get your money’s worth when taking out advertisement space, or having a leaflet printed, but overfilling your space will not have the effect you intend.

White space is what we call the area between design elements. For example, the space around an image, rather than having your text almost touching it.

It doesn’t not actually need to be white, but can be a complimentary colour, texture or background image. What matters is that it allows your important information to breathe and attract the eye of your customer.

Humans generally get frustrated and overwhelmed when we are bombarded by information, and if we see an advertisement that is cluttered and busy, our eyes will just skim past it.

So if your designer is recommending that you leave some ‘white space’ – remember that sometimes less is more!

Having videos on social media can drive up your engagement more than any other posting option. But it isn’t as simple as uploading any random video.

Choosing the length of your video depends on several factors including the platform you are uploading to.

We will specifically look at Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter – which all rely on people scrolling to consume additional content, so you need to aim for your videos to be between 30 seconds and 1 minute long. Keep your message short, snappy and easy-to-digest to keep engagement high.

You will have approximately 4 seconds to really catch the viewers’ attention and get them to stay with your video, so try and start your video with a good hook to keep eyes on your post.

Reels and stories are a little different and can suit longer behind-the-scenes style content, so if there is something which will take longer than 60 seconds to promote, consider having a teaser video on your main feed, and point people towards your reel or story for more information!

Video editing and animations are something C-SQRD have a lot of experience in, so get in touch today to see how we can help you streamline your social media and keep your audience engaged!

Work In Progress Wednesday!

This clip is from a video project that will be played on a loop during an event. The use of typographical transitions helps create a dynamic look that draws the eye and is visually appealing. This is exactly what you need when you want viewers to make a note and remember information such as social media handles & hashtags!
