Team Cubby are delighted to have played our creative part in bringing over 500,000 more people into Leeds city centre over summer 2026!

A FREE live and interactive Trivial Pursuit treasure trail, celebrating Leeds’ contributions to the world, will be a draw for visitors from 25th July to 30th August across Leeds city centre sites.

The project is the newest innovation from the team at Leeds BID, and is the latest reason that people should spend longer in Leeds. A Monopoly takeover was an immensely popular draw in summer 2024, and last year saw an Alice in Wonderland trail fill the summer holiday weeks.

The Trivial Pursuit trail will bring to life Leeds’ history via arts and culture, science, sport, music, inventions and innovations, with visitors and residents encouraged to answer questions and collect wedges, just like in the iconic board game.

Leeds is, of course, home to Cubby Studio so we are delighted to have been able to contribute to the project - as a city we have a lot of stories that deserve to be shouted from the rooftops!

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY - 6TH DECEMBER

Now in its 13th year, Small Business Saturday shines a spotlight on the UK’s 5.45million small businesses and encourages the nation to show their support.

Here at Cubby we are fully paid-up members of the ‘small is beautiful’ club. In SBS UK’s own words: ‘We believe in the power of small. Small is personal. Small is resilient. Small is at the heart of every neighbourhood.’

So get out there, choose a small independent business, march right in and plant a kiss on the brow of the first member of staff you meet.

Cogent Skills are a not-for-profit organisation, well known as specialists in the UK Science and Technology skills sectors, who came to Cubby for a brand refresh that went hand-in-hand with a revised strategic direction.

The new Cogent Skills logo unlocked the whole project. Understanding who Cogent Skills were, what they stand for, and how they wish to be perceived, meant the logo was the embodiment of that identity, and our team could then bring everything to life with a mountain of new assets, contributing to an inspiring, unifying new brand identity.

𝗖𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 (𝟭)

Cogent Skills - specialists in science and technology skills development -needed a refreshed identity. What they do had evolved, and they needed a single banner for all teams and stakeholders to rally behind.

We got to understand what they are great at through a discovery phase with Cogent leadership, stakeholder workshops, design concepts and feedback.

Their revised strategic direction started with this new logo - a universally-approved brandmark that took inspiration from a telescope or microscope lens, along with the Cogent ‘C’ of the previous branding.

𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙𝗙 (Our Work)

The Clubhouse is a personal training gym in Guildford, Surrey. A gym for people who hate gyms. A gym that prides itself on community rather than whooping and chest thumping. A gym that SMELLS GOOD.

So they needed a brand that was warm, welcoming and… not like a gym. We created a brand of soft, warm tones. A brand that is calming, and at the centre is a continuous, smooth, ‘CH’ signature mark.

No, wait - ‘ch’. Better.

But which is the 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 classic?
Ross loves the nostalgia of the KIT-KAT. “It’s the original immersive wrapping. You could rub your finger over the foil to see the print... rub your thumbnail down the split and have the foil rip. Oh yeah… And then you could break the fingers apart, or just eat them all together like a mad man.”

Helen has gone with TONY’S CHOCOLONELY - “The mix of bright, mismatched colours and quirky design gives it a fun, offbeat feel. It adds a cheerful little splash to the fridge every time I open the door, as I very often have a half eaten bar in there…”

Steven has gone for TERRY’S PYRAMINT because “it is shaped like a pyramid, for a start. I loved the exotic wrapper, and the mummy-themed launch advert in the late 80s. Plus, they were really sickly with the mint fondant - exactly what I was after as a child….”

Let’s just presume that Mark will win as usual though, with TUNNOCK’S TEA CAKES - “the far superior foil-wrapped chocolate with red branding. A nostalgic, toadstool-shaped, cloud-filled gobful of joy (not how they advertised, but should have been)”

𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙𝗙 (Our Work)

We love this one, to be honest.
Howden Clough is a grassroots football club, with loads of age groups, that has been going in Birstall since 1975. For context, that means they are older than Chris Martin from out of Coldplay. Or Benedict Cumberbatch.

So - they mean something to their community. Many young Yorkshire folk have played football, thrived, socialised and grown here - they currently have around 400 players on their books across the entire club - but as with so many places, their logo needed a refresh, as did their online presence.
They ran an internal competition to redesign the logo, then brought us in, with our partners at Discovery Agency, to make it all happen.

It is more important than ever to engage with each other, to get outside, and strive to fulfil those cornerstones of team sports: teamwork, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.
