It coming up to The Marketing Optimist’s 9th birthday.

This morning Google images reminded us of one of our early clients - Guess How Much. They were a discount retailer started up by ex Asda staff with a head office near Temple Works in Leeds.

The lovely .bearman helped us get the contract as she asked me to support her with ideation training for them before they launched.

We helped them open and drive footfall to stores including Sheffield, Cardiff, Leicester and the Isle of Sheppy via localised pages, using organic traffic.

It seems crazy looking back at it now.

A highlight was an artist using Henderson’s Relish to paint portraits in Sheffield and seeing the PEK mascot out in the wild.

Sadly GHM stores didn’t last long as they were bought by Poundland & Dealz. But I guess that’s a testament to the fact that they worked.

Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.

has been one of the best marketing events I’ve ever attended. I met so many great people, particularly at the round tables and the fringe events.
