It's going to be a busy October, here's where you can find me for helpful some tips you can use in your design and marketing...

As a lot of you know one of my main goals is to make education around marketing social media and design accessible for small businesses and individuals. This month is going to be full events where you can come and learn more about design and marketing in order to benefit your business... at an affordable rate!

I'm still in disbelief but, I'm incredibly honoured to have been awarded Young Professional of the Year in the Creative Industries & Culture category at the Greater BYPY Awards last night.

This year I had one rule for the process of this award, to be myself. Nothing performative, nothing too scripted or structured, just to be myself; and that was enough.

I'm extremely passionate about my work and put my heart and soul into everything I do whether that's the work I do for my clients, making design accessible, providing affordable marketing education for small businesses, supporting local organisations such as SARAC with advocacy & fundraising, and helping make positive change through the D&I working group at Future Faces Chamber of Commerce.

I couldn't do it alone though, those I've met along the way who have pushed me forward have played an integral part in my self-employed journey and for all of you, I'm eternally grateful.

For anyone thinking about whether you should apply for that award you're considering, or whether or not you should put yourself forward for something daunting... just do it! Do it now and get imposter syndrome later, because you never know what might happen 💚

Also, a HUGE shoutout to Byfarhannah for her incredible illustration!! I'm obsessed and she got the perfect shade of green 💚

So many people have been asking for a social media workshop to help them with their business, so I'm delivering!

This is a full day dedicated to getting your content sorted, your confidence up and your tone of voice nailed. It's hands-on and interactive throughout, so expect bouncing ideas around, working through tasks together and creating your own content as we go. No death by PowerPoint here.

• A full day of hands-on, interactive learning
• Free refillable tea and coffee plus lunch
• Small groups, maximum 10 people, so you get proper one-to-one support
• Coverage of LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram

What we'll cover:
Understanding social media and how to write content for your business, exploring your tone of voice, picking up design tips, creating content, scheduling and getting to grips with the platforms that matter most to you.

Who it's for:
This course is perfect if you're just starting out and don't know where to begin, if posting doesn't come naturally to you yet or if you already have some ideas and want to finesse them. It's a safe space too, so there's no such thing as a silly question.

What to bring:
A notepad and a laptop. If you don't have a laptop, just get in touch beforehand and we'll sort an alternative.

Well I wasn't expecting to be surprised with an award this week but here we are!

Thank you so much to Caroline and SARAC for nominating me as their star volunteer for Support Staffordshire's Volunteer Awards. I'm ever grateful for this recognition and I can't quite believe it.

I did wonder what Caroline was up to when she invited me to a 'secret' event 😅and though it was called off due to the incredible heat to keep people safe, she still kept it a secret until her grand reveal at our lunch this week. Thank you Caroline for being simply the best!! I’m so grateful for you and for the positive impact you and your team have on not only my life, but those who you support also 🥰💚

It's great to see SARAC thriving and I'm incredibly thankful to all whose choose to support their mission especially those who helped us raise a whopping £9k at SARAC's Pearl Ball earlier this year. You're helping change the world for the better one step at a time. 🥰

What a fabulous night celebrating the Greater BYPY 2026 Finalists!

Whilst I didn't get to connect with anyone else in my category, I still got to meet plenty of new faces and like-minded young professionals. The sheer amount of talent in the room was something to behold. A HUGE well done to all of the shortlisters!

It was also great to catch up with some familiar faces including some of those I sit on the D&I board with at the Future Faces Chamber of Commerce.

I'm really looking forward to the awards next month and seeing everyone there 🤩

I am going to be composing a Social Media Day workshop for those of you who would like to learn how to find your tone-of-voice, create visuals, write content and post online; this would be a chance to develop your social media skills and take advantage of an interactive experience where no question is a silly question!

A lot of people feel like they should know more than they do about social media, so believe me when I say you’re not alone and you’re in good hands with me. We can navigate this together 💚

It will likely be hosted from 10am-4pm, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, with tea & coffee included along with some lunch.

I think it's time for a re-introduction, don't you? For those who don't know me, I'm Sophie, the founder of Serrano Media. I help businesses stand out and look good by providing them with support for their graphic design, brand design, social media and marketing endeavours.

In a world where things are starting to look a bit ‘copy and paste’, it's important to stand out against the crowd and catch peoples eyes. Not only that, but do to it in the right way.

With a background in print and 10 years experience, I design for all platforms and have a deep understanding for print design as well as digital and branding.

When it comes to branding, this is something I'm very passionate about because there's nothing like starting off on the right foot.

Your branding flows through to everything you do whether that be social media, your website, your print work or your uniform; it's the identity that people will trust, recognise you for and connect with.

Speaking of social media, I manage social media platforms for businesses, posting on their behalf and keeping them present, as well as teaching workshops on how you can best represent your brand yourself when posting your own social media content if you are looking to keep it in-house.

Tonight was simply amazing. 💜

Seven new ladies walked through the door, and each one was welcomed with the kindness, encouragement and support that makes Women Embracing Business so special.

I’m incredibly proud of what this community has become. It’s not just me that creates this atmosphere—it’s every woman in that room. Together, we’ve built something where people feel seen, heard and valued.

Tonight left me feeling truly inspired, and reminded me exactly why I started this journey.

Thank you to every single lady who continues to make WEB such a special place. I can’t wait to welcome even more incredible women to future meetings. 💜
