THE FIRST BARLESS BABY IS HERE! 🐣🐦🔥
This tiny little pigeon might not look like much right now… but I am ridiculously excited about this one! 🤣❤️
The first of my new barless youngsters has officially hatched at Planet Pigeon — and hopefully its little nest mate won’t be too far behind! 🥚🐣
Barless is one of the genes I’m most excited about working with over the next few years. I absolutely love the clean look of a barless pigeon, but the plan isn’t simply to breed more blue barless birds.
I want to see just how far we can take it. 🧬👀
I’ve already started planning some proper multi-generation breeding projects, with the ultimate aim of producing things like:
🐦 Reduced/Rubella Barless
🔥 Ash-Red Barless
🧬 Dilute Barless
Some of these could take two, three or even more generations to get exactly where I want them — and that’s actually the bit I’m most excited about.
Rather than simply buying the finished pigeons, I want to understand the genetics, make the pairings, breed the intermediate generations and hopefully eventually stand in the loft looking at a pigeon that exists because of a breeding plan we started years earlier.
And this tiny little wet bundle of feathers could potentially become part of that story. 🤯
Obviously, we have absolutely no idea yet whether this youngster is a c**k or hen, what sort of pigeon it’ll develop into, or whether it’ll eventually make the breeding team.
For now, its only job is to GROW! 😂❤️
But every additional barless youngster gives me more choice when it comes to selecting the birds that will form the foundation of these projects next year.
So welcome to Planet Pigeon, little one. 🐣🌍🐦
You’ve only just hatched…
…and I’m already planning your grandchildren. 🤣🤣
Which would you most like to see us eventually create — Reduced Barless, Ash-Red Barless or Dilute Barless? 👇🧬
