Pye Tait’s latest report for the Office for Students (OfS) has just landed. We analysed and reported on responses to the OfS’s Call for Evidence on regional access partnerships. This set out proposals for a reformed national collaborative access programme to succeed Uni Connect and which would form the infrastructure and leadership of the new regional partnerships. These regional partnerships would work together to improve equality of opportunity in their region.

Pleased to see The Scottish Government has published our report compiled earlier this year: Review of the Building Standards Operating and Performance Frameworks for Verifiers.

Led by Adrian Smith, Pye Tait Consulting's role was to examine the continued fitness for purpose of the operating and performance frameworks, then propose changes and accompanying considerations to update the frameworks. Our research involved scoping and desk research, in-depth interviews, an online survey, and workshops.

The Office for Students (Ofs) last week launched its new strategy. Pye Tait Consulting's independent report was published alongside this, outlining our analysis of consultation responses to the OfS’s draft strategy. The OfS used our analysis to finalise its strategy and develop its associated strategy roadmap.

We are pleased to see the publication of our recent report for West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) – evaluation of the Job Rotation Pilot in Coventry Local Authority Area 2024-25 (here: https://www.wmca.org.uk/media/qp3n42b0/evaluation-of-the-job-rotation-pilot-in-coventry-local-authority-area-2024-2025.pdf).

Drawing on the Danish Job Rotation Model which emerged in the 1980s, the pilot enabled Coventry-based Universal Credit claimants (including unemployed residents) to undertake work placements with local employers. At the same time, existing members of the workforce were released for upskilling. Following the pilot and outcomes revealed by the evaluation, the model is now being considered for deployment as part of other area-based initiatives.

For the Office for Students (OfS), we recently analysed responses to a call for evidence on how the OfS could measure student outcomes resulting from modular study. The OfS will use this evidence and our report to inform how it develops outcome measures that are appropriate for students studying modules and how it expects to monitor activity related to modules when LLE funded courses start from January 2027.
