Ingenious Design is proud to support Sussex Police with poster and digital screen designs for their new Operation Nightfall campaign, targeted at reducing serious offences committed in and around Brighton beach.

Operation Nightfall is a coordinated campaign that adopts a multi-agency approach designed to deter potential offenders, reinforce collective responsibility for safety within the night-time economy and increase public confidence in measures being taken to protect residents and visitors.

Sussex Police asked Ingenious to create some eye-catching posters aimed at potential perpetrators and conveying a strong message that the police, together with local authorities, transport providers, security teams, businesses and the wider community, are working together to identify and challenge predatory behaviour wherever it occurs. Through enhanced patrols, CCTV and drone surveillance, anyone identified engaging in predatory behaviour will be challenged, investigated and where offences are committed, prosecuted.

The bold posters we designed are now displayed prominently along the seafront and on digital screens across the City of Brighton and Hove. We hope they will be highly effective in supporting Sussex Police and partner agencies with their key priorities of protecting the public, catching offenders and preventing further offences.

Today Ingenious is sharing a quote from Victor Papanek, Austrian-American designer, educator and author, which neatly sums up our work on a daily basis!

From complex information and data supplied by many of our clients, we constantly strive to impose a meaningful order, creating a wide variety of visually appealing, impactful and accessible communications which speak clearly to their target audience.

Papanek promoted ethical design that was socially and ecologically responsible. He was a vocal critic of multi-national corporations and the consumer culture that was causing large-scale damage to the environment, calling for an increased awareness of environmental issues in industrial design practices and construction. He published a number of highly influential books on the topic including Design for the Real World and The Green Imperative.

On Saturday Ingenious director, Sharon O'Shea, was lucky enough to spend the day at Goodwood Revival – and absolutely loved it!

What made Revival so special for her was the attention to detail. It’s a wonderful step back into the golden age of motor racing, from 1948 to 1966, when design, craftsmanship and style seemed to be everywhere.

From the incredible classic cars – including one of Sharon's favourites, a 1959 Maserati – to the clothes, signage, typography, shop fronts, advertising and even the food packaging, every detail helps to recreate the era. Nothing feels accidental.

And then there’s the fashion! People really embrace it, with some incredibly authentic outfits that make you feel as though you’ve stepped onto the set of a 1950's film. Add the period music, dancing, historic aircraft and racing and you have an experience that completely immerses you in another time.

As a design agency, we spend a lot of time thinking about how design creates a sense of place, personality and emotion, so the whole thing was particularly inspiring. There’s something to be said for a time when so much thought went into how things looked, as well as how they worked.

Sharon has already recommended Revival to the team at Ingenious. A brilliant celebration of design, creativity, craftsmanship and community – and, most importantly, she just had so much fun!

Now in its 33rd year, it is one of the largest visual arts festivals in the south-east. The 24th edition of the London Design Festival is in full swing, running until 20 September. With a city-wide programme of installations, projects, talks and much more, the festival celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world.

This year brings together global exchange, craft revival and future facing technologies, with many projects exploring how cultural heritage, material innovation and digital thinking can coexist. Exploring ideas that span East and West, past and future, and the physical and digital worlds, LDF continues to position London not just as a showcase of design innovation, but as a platform for global conversations.

If you are in London, look out for the many exhibits and installations spread across 11 Design Districts, at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Barbican and Design Museum and stunning Landmark Project at St Paul’s Cathedral – an immersive light sculpture, The Point of Unity, and audiovisual installation, Soul, both by Ukrainian lighting designer and contemporary artist, Mykola Kabluka.

This weekend Ingenious creative director, Glenn Carter, spent some time exploring The Story Trail, a brilliant charity art trail across Brighton & Hove which consists of 74 book bench sculptures which have been designed and painted by local artists, schools and community groups.

Each sculpture is an open book waiting to be discovered, encouraging people to sit, pause, connect with each other and get immersed in the world of stories the local community has to tell. They are more than just beautiful art, they offer an accessible, fun experience bringing people together across the city and providing a place for everyone to belong.

The trail is produced in partnership with Wild in Art who work with charities across the UK, bringing together local artists who design and paint the sculptures and businesses to sponsor them. Previous year’s art trails include Shaun the Sheep and snail sculptures which were dotted around the city.

The trail runs from 12 September until 8 November, after which each sculpture will be auctioned to raise money for local charity, Amaze, which supports children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.

Every sculpture has its own page on the Amaze website where you can find out more about the artist or learner group who created it and its sponsor https://amazesussex.org.uk/thestorytrail/explore-the-sculptures/

Well worth checking out!

Ingenious creative director, Glenn Carter, loves a parkrun with his daughter at the weekends and the other day, noticed one of the official sponsors, Kenko has recently rebranded. Following the biggest overhaul of its instant coffee for 15 years, new packs feature a ‘bold, modern design identity’ and ‘striking, jewel-inspired glass jar’ the JDE Peet’s-owned coffee brand said.

Which leads to the question, does anyone actually drink instant coffee these days?! Apparently, the coffee inside the new-look jars has also been overhauled and according to the supplier now offers ‘a richer, more authentic taste’, so even a Nespresso ju**ie like Glenn is tempted to give it a try after his next run! It’s certainly a lot cheaper - but maybe that’s due to the fact they have also shrunk the jars!

Whatever your top coffee choice, we'd love to know if you are influenced by a rebrand like Kenko’s?

Read more about their rebrand here:

Kenco said the move was made to 'better align with shopper missions, while matching 150g and 300g paper refills'

The Bayeux Tapestry is now on show at the British Museum! The 70-metre-long embroidery depicts events leading up to the Battle of Hastings and Norman Conquest in 1066. Made by English embroiderers, it is not only a remarkable work of art and important historical record of life in 11th century England, but with its instantly recognisable graphic style, it has been a source of inspiration for artists and designers over the years.

With its simple but richly detailed design and the way the narrative is divided into successive scenes, it is easy to see why the Bayeux Tapestry has been referred to as one of the first comic strips in history. This story-telling technique is echoed in approaches used in cinema and animation today and continues to influence popular culture across media, merchandising, illustration and cartoons. Its design and narrative style have inspired the creation of tapestries telling the stories of other famous epics such as Star Wars and Game of Thrones and it even appears jokingly in an episode of “The Simpsons”.

Look out for the next ticket release on 21 October.

For the first time since it was made nearly 1,000 years ago, the Bayeux Tapestry has returned to England.

Snack-tember is back!

The month-long campaign run by British Nutrition Foundation is aimed at children and young people to encourage healthy, sustainable snacking. Nearly 1 million 5–16-year-olds across the UK took part last year and in 2026 they hope to double their reach and support 2 million youngsters to explore better snack choices.

Prior to the campaign’s launch last year, working within their brand guidelines, Ingenious designed a range of materials including a Snack-tember logo, posters, guides, social media and PowerPoint templates, which will feature once again in this year’s campaign. Our fun Snack-tember logo consists of a clean white font which stands out on a healthy green coloured background with a bite taken out, mirroring the strapline ‘Better snacking. One bite at a time.’

The campaign is timed for the return to school this month and information, activity ideas, recipes, posters and other materials are available on the British Nutrition Foundation website for teachers, parents, carers and caterers. We hope Snack-tember will be another huge success this year - the Ingenious team will certainly be engaging in some healthier snacking as a result!
