I’m getting a name for myself as being staunchly anti-AI but honestly, that’s not the case! I use it for all sorts of things day to day but I try to do so mindfully.
What really frustrates me is the frivolous use of generative AI to create wholly unnecessary “stuff”! The 80s photo trend is just the latest. With millions of people jumping on the trend the amount of energy used and data gained to further train the AI models (for free!) is massive!
Maybe being a designer I’m more critical but I’ve certainly had enough of the AI slop - I’m here for the authentic, rough round the edges, real life images and design. Certainly allow AI to assist with the mundane tasks but let’s not hand over our creativity and critical thinking skills!
